My old one stopped working (iRobot would roll on by) but this replacement is preventing that again. Two settings available - one that is a straight line barrier. I use this one to prevent it crossing over into rooms I don't want it to vacuum. Second, it creates an arch style (half-circle) barrier. It could be used between dog food and water bowls to create an arch that the iRobot would vacuum around outside the two bowls. It uses two AA batteries that come with item.
