I purchased this mostly for fun-- and it was priced at a point that this is a reasonable use case. That being said, it seems to produce useful measurements and I will press it into service to analyze my household power use. I didn't rate its accuracy, lacking a calibration standard, but the measurements reported seem to be credible. I suspect it could be wholly relied upon for comparative assessment of power use. Absolute calibration is uncertain. Highly recommended-- apparently useful functionality for a very low price.

We purchased a bed warmer for our older cat. Since it's on all the time (whether there's a cat there or not) I really wanted to know how much I was $pending on it. This meter was easy to set so after a week, then after 30 days, and again after 60 days I could see just what it was costing me. It's a great device, and I plan on using it with other devices - like to check to see how much TV's and other things that are plugged in but rarely used actually cost to leave plugged in.

I used this to determine loads for sizing a backup generator. Works fine for running loads but the sample rate is only every few seconds, so not very useful for capturing start-up loads. There is a peak function that records/saves the highest load, but if it's not sampling when the peak hits, you won't get an accurate reading. That said it was good enough for my use and much less expensive that other (probably more accurate) options.

This completely met my needs. I am renting and need to be able to pay the homeowner for the cost of charging my car. I haven't set the price per KWh yet because I don't know what it is in this city but it is tracking the amount and I will be able to multiply it later. Others have mentioned that there is no backlit on the screen so you need light to read it. Not a problem for me. It arrived faster than the tracking had predicted. Even when it was accidentally unplugged the information was still there when I plugged it back in.

Sick of the increased electric bills, I wanted to know what items in my house were secretly hogging power without my knowledge. Room by room, outlet by outlet, I determined about 120watts of "standby" power such as plugged in TVs we don't use more than once or twice a month, computers, gaming consoles, etc. This will literally pay for my device in a month, then the savings will pile up! Highly recommend! I bought single outlet power adapters that can switch on and off, so now everything is officially "OFF" until we need those devices. This product is great. People complain about a back light (or lack there of), but I just used a small flashlight and I was happy with the visibility.

Got this to check power use of appliances so I could calculate how many things my emergency generator can run. First: The included instructions are about 85% indecipherable--maybe 95%. Four or five times through them and I'm getting a hint at what's being said. I don't think I can get anything more. Translated from a foreign language (Chinese?): missing words, wrong words, repeated words, wrong meaning, missing punctuation. And very poor structure for the layout of the instructions, including no graphics to help understand what they are trying to say or show how the device works. For instance: I want to measure power draw for a number of different appliances (freezer, refrigerator, microwave, small AC unit, garage door opener). I plugged in my freezer and the device is reading the freezer wattage. Great. But if I want to check another appliance, do I need to clear everything using the Reset button? Or does the device begin reading the usage of the new appliance? No idea. The internal battery holds the last settings, but I don't know if they automatically reset when a different appliance is plugged in or not. Therefore, learning how to use this has got to be by experimentation. If you know little about electricity (amperage, volts, starting and running watts), better get a meter with much better directions. Second: Overall, the device does seem to work. And it's fairly cheap. Third: Sturdy & solid. Doesn't feel cheaply made (but I don't know how accurate it is). LCD is easy to read. Buttons are good. Final: I can't understand why a manufacturer goes to the trouble of making a device like this, and then fail to hire a capable translator to write the instructions.

I bought this to monitor the total load (wattage) usage for a recently purchased inverter generator and to also determine the load for each appliance. Very easy to use. Good product for the home.

This worked like a charm. Helped me hook up a Generlink system to my home for power outages. I knew what each item drew from my generator and was able to run what I needed in a power outage because of it. Great purchase. Only drawback...it’s not backlit. You have to strain to see the display or have it in a brightly lit area. Other than that...a great product.
