I've used it inside twice, once on a roast beef, the second time with a spatchcocked chicken. After purchasing the ambient temperature probe, I used it to smoke a chicken outside, as well. On each occasion, this thermometer worked with complete precision. The iGrill2 delivers exactly what it promises. No guesswork, no moving the probe, just pure dead-on accuracy.The iGrill2 has proved to be extremely easy (and frustration-free) to set up on my iPhone 6, after a quick download of the free iDevices app. Programming custom settings is a simple matter, highly intuitive. I'm not exactly a whip when it comes to techie stuff, and I found the programming to be ultra simple. We like our roast beef rare, and the first thing I did was to create a setting to alert me when the roast reached 118 degrees. Your phone also gives you a 10 degree warning, i.e. when your food is 10 degrees away from target, so you know to be monitoring a bit more closely and get the table set.When I was smoking the chicken, the Bluetooth worked perfectly throughout the house. The Weber is 10' away from the closest area of the house, and I checked in every room, experiencing no failure of the display. Our home is constructed of concrete block stucco.The cords from the probes to the base are nice and long, so you'll have plenty of slack to put the base on a counter or a table near your barbecue or smoker. The display cuts out after about 10 seconds or so, but you only have to touch the power button to bring it back up, or better yet, just monitor it on your phone.I like the various colored rubber shanks so that you can monitor the temperature progress of more than one food item at a time, and not get confused as to which is which. The unit comes with two probes, but you can buy additional probes for $25 on the iGrill website. The ambient probe I bought there comes with a metal piece for attaching it to the grill grids without the probe touching them. The ambient probe has a rounded end; the meat probe ends are tapered to a sharp point for easier insertion.This has revolutionized my smoking. I don't have a devoted smoker, no fancy-shmancy Big Green Egg. I actually tap the air intakes to regulate ambient temperature. I'm riding bareback here, with a humble Weber. I used to have to open up the lid repeatedly to check on the meat temperature. Of course, that wreaks havoc on the ambient temperature, making it plummet, requiring a few minutes to recover each time. As common smoking wisdom goes, "If you're lookin' you ain't cookin'." I don't have that problem anymore. This has made the entire smoking process simpler and faster, and exponentially more enjoyable. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Works great so far!!! Super easy set up & use. *by L***W on Reviewed in the United States on June 27, 2015* So far so good, to be honest we've only used it once but it was super accurate, the meat was definitely on target with what I set it to, and I love that it comes with 2 probes (not sure if I'll order the others but maybe) b/c we frequently end up with steaks of different thicknesses and invariably overcook one- this solves that! The range for us was only about 16-17 feet or so, I took my phone 5 ft further into my kitchen and realized it disconnected. I guess this should lower my stars since it says 150 ft. ('line of sight') but it isnt a big deal to me since when I'm grilling I'm not far away and can turn the volume up if I go elsewhere. Maybe it is significantly lower if you have a wall in the way? this was with the sliding glass door closed & a part of a wall technically between the phone & the grill, which is just outside the sliding glass door... . We had a different type of remote grilling thermometer in the past which worked ok but had only the 1 probe, you had to deal w/ batteries on both ends, and of course most ppl generally have their phone around so it is just really convenient. Also like being able to program your own custom temperatures for exactly how you like different meats. Only thing that was odd- the probes I got had red & yellow plastic on them but the yellow one showed up as green in the app. The only reason this would matter would be if the extra 2 you can purchase include a green and then you'd have 2 greens on the app. Not really a big deal but I was surprised the color didnt match. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Changed the quality of my meals *by S***S on Reviewed in the United States on May 3, 2015* I've always had a problem with the consistency of my cooking. Sometimes my meat is done perfectly, other times it's terrible. This thermometer has improved my meals immensely.I really haven't found anything I don't like about this thing. The only problem I had so far was not realizing that the temp unit has a proximity sleep/wake feature on it. When your connected smart device moves beyond 5 feet or from the temp unit, the screen turns off to conserve battery. The app on your device will still be connected and give you temp readings while the temp unit is sleeping. I don't use the app for all of my cooking and don't have my phone with me most of the time. When the screen kept shutting off on me I thought I had a defective unit, but then I read the manual like I should have to begin with and figured out what was going on.The probe holders and the magnetic base are probably my favorite features. The holders make storing the probes simple and organized. They also are formed to stack into each other so they stay stacked. The temp unit can be placed in the magnetic base at two different angles giving you some options when it comes to placing iGrill.Having 4 inputs is great for the obvious reasons. The probes themselves are holding up well to all the heat I've thrown at them. The probes being color coded are just another nice touch.
