Okuma Longitude Surf Graphite Rods (Large, Black/Blue/Silver)

After a few months of use I finally feel comfortable leaving a review for this fishing pole. Living in Virginia Beach there are plenty of great places to fish the surf and relax on a sunny day. I've used this fishing pole to cast anywhere from 1oz-6oz weights and large live bait with no problem whatsoever. For those not accustomed or are new surf fishing, this rod is quite long and a bit on the heavy side but will certainly get your bait out there and stand up to whatever you throw at it. I highly recommend this product for anyone looking to get into surf fishing.

I bought the 12 ft Longitude spinning rod (LC-S-1202H-1) because my other 14 footer Medium Heavy rod had difficulty throwing anything heavier than 5 oz. This rod is rated for 8 oz which is perfect for 4 oz sinker and a heavy cut bait. I can finally throw cut bait 35 yards to maybe 50 yards which is plenty far out there for most fishing situations. Because of this rod I was finally able to catch a Red Drum at OBX just a few weeks ago. I forgot to mention that this rod is of quality construction.

Solid rod for surf fishing. The only problem I have with it is the black foam that goes over the cork handle is splitting. But other than that, this rod has held up fighting two large red fish and a large stingray with no problems.

I couldn't resist the price (at the time) so I bought two. I've owned the 9 fter in the past and loved it, so I went with a pair of the 12fters to use exclusively for crab snaring (here in Northern California). Came packaged well, no defects or issues. Took them out once so far on a 100ft high pier and they were able to handle my 7+oz crab snares easily. Got a few double crab hook-ups that day (5-7 pounds) and it handed them easily as well. Love the diameter and the weight of the blanks. For the size it's relatively light-weight. My only gripe about it is the action, which was a bit too stiff for my liking. But otherwise an excellent value.

I bought this rod not to surf fish but to bank fish for muskies/pike. I wanted a rod to give me extra casting distance from the banks/shores of lakes, rivers, docks, and peers. I purchased the 12 ft version and paired it with a Shimano 8000 series spinning reel and I am more than happy with my casting results. It casts 1.5 oz baits out very nicely. I have landed a several 10 pound range pikes and it did great. The rod came in a stiff cardboard box that was about 6.5 feet long, wrapped in a plastic sleeve supported with a few of those air pocket thingamajiggers to keep it stable. I have an ugly stick in this size and very similar, but the rod end action is not stiff enough to set hooks for what im trying to do. I found this rod to be pretty stiff and excellent for working bucktails.

I did a bunch of surf fishing this past weekend with it for the first time and it held up just fine. Got a bit heavy as the hours progressed in the day but overall great rod and I would recommend it.

Have two of these rods. Love them. This one however, was shipped in a vegetable produce bag. Ripped, tip broken off and missing. Will not devolve into the mental assessment of whoever approved this shipping method. You can draw your own conclusions. It is a great rod. Have caught many fish in the outer banks with my other two rods while surf fishing. But I really need a functioning rod to do this. Don't want to give a 1 star review because of shipping but y'all need to be aware that shipping may be a problem.

Finally an inexpensive 12 ft. surf rod that casts great and has the backbone to bring in the big ones. I have tried some other rods in this price range and they either were too whippy to cast well or they exploded from the stress of the cast. I would say that these rods are well worth the money and then some. Getting out to where you need to fish is now an easy task and I can really say that I am quite pleased with the 12 ft rods that I purchased.

vivo cerca de la costa, la he utilizado no muchas veces... el material de las anillas muy malo ya que se ve que le entró oxido a la anilla y se rompió una de dos es acero inoxidable de muy mala calidad o no es acero inoxidable, muy mal para el tipo de caña y la marca... tendré que gastar ahora en la reparación de esta anilla y haber cuanto me duran las demás.
