Is this the same as the Mexican Masa Harina?

Hello Rock Guitarist's WifeThe main difference is that the Iwisa is made in South Africa from white maize (mielies in local lingo) whilst Masa Harina is made from yellow maize. Both are gluten free if that is one of your concerns. The primary uses of the Iwisa are to make porridge, and stiffer dough form called iPhutu in Zulu and sadsa in Zimbabwe. Also a supplement to add to mielie bread which is made from minced and a couple of whole kernels of white maize which is then steamed. It seems that you know Masa Harina, but a quick recap - used in tortillas, tamales, pupusas, arepassopes, gorditas and other antojitos/ snacks. The maize kernels are removed unlike the Iwisa.I hope this helps you in discerning the differences.Kind regardsSean.

Hello, when I was in Africa I had Nsima a lot and enjoyed it a lot is this what I use to make it?

Nsima is cooked, ground white maize flour that is used as the stodge for the majority of malawian meals. so yes it is. thanks

Is this the stuff we used for making porridge in SA ?

Hi there yes you can make it a a porridge or as a traditional SA Pap For porridge I usually use sugar and for a perfect PAP I use salt as well as butter just to smoothing it a lot better..

What is the number of bags (units) or may be better to ask, what is the total weight ? it is 2kg (pack of 3) but it is also units = 1 pcs.

I often buy Iwisa Super Maize Meal. It will normally come in 2KG packs. I think you will get 3 x 2KG packs.

The Real McCoy!

This is the real McCoy! Living in Germany has made miss the little delights from the South African kitchen including mielepap - If you are craving home - buy it! Packaging was minimal and clean, and delivery perfect as expected from Amazon. Now please excuse me whilst I stir up a pot of MIELEPAP 10/10
