Great ring flash for intraoral dental photography!
For the price...this is a great ring flash. I have it on my Rebel and use it for close up intraoral photography. I have only used it for a couple of weeks so I can not speak to longevity, but instant results are fantastic. I never understood why these things were so expensive. This is not only a light. This has flash capabilities that integrate with the camera.

Great value!
This ring flash is a great value for someone that wants to play with flash photography and macro photography. It's not by any means a professional piece of equipment. It's very cheaply made, will probably get broken if you don't treat it like glass, and i have serious doubts as to how long it will continue to function. However, these are often on sale for $20 and at that price it's practically a consumable item and not that big of a deal if it breaks or something goes wrong with it. Like most camera equipment, it doesn't really matter how good some pro says it is, or how expensive it is, what matters how you use it and if you like the results you get. I've mostly used this for macro shots and have not really experimented with portraits yet, but i'm sure with some playing around with it, it will make decent shots with a nice ring sparkle in the eyes.

Short range shot necessity
╔ ■ Price Point: 4.5/5 ╠ ■ Quality: 5/5 ╠ ■ Recommendation: 5/5 ╠ ☼ Overall: 4.5/5 ╠ ►Product Need: Better DSLR shots ╠ ►Product Pros: 8 “setting” rings, LCD screen ╠ ►Cons to Consider: no carrying case ╠ ►My Review: After getting professional family photos done for our holiday cards, I was recommended to get a flash add on for my Nikon. The expensive prices have put me off, but decided to take a gamble on this one. I am glad I did since I am now getting close up pictures that look 2x better. The different color rings are nice to play with for an amateur like myself, but I don’t tinker with them too much. The flash itself is bright as you would expect if not more, and is adjustable to your shot. The connected wire is annoying to me, but slowly getting used to it. I was concerned my human subjects would yell at me for being too bright, which they have not yet. Overall this is a necessity add on to any expensive DSLR camera owner to enhance short range shots.

Decent fill light, nothing more.
With a D90 body and kit lens this did an OK job. It's a fun toy for the price but not a serious flash. This did not take over the flash cue from my body, perhaps it does other camera bodies. Without taking the cue my pop-up flash wants to engage or I have to turn flash off completely which uses all low light auto settings - which doesn't account for the light from this flash when used. To set it up manually would be egregious. To use is as a solid fill light works great and may turn out valuable for head shots and such but the batteries wear out fairly quickly so long term it wouldn't be a good option (i.e. played for less than 5 minutes and the 4x AA's were already starting to track downward when using as a fill). Again it blinks when you take an image but it does not sync to the auto settings on a Nikon D90. I'm keeping it - for the price it's worth the use as a short term fill. There are design flaws as well but nothing detrimental. The adapter rings / connecting points on the light circle don't lock in place - as in they clasp onto a ring that's fixed to the lens but the ring of light is free to rotate with no resistance... with the coiled connecting cord it doesn't sit square - only an issue for Left or Right option, which I just hold it in place or anchor the connecting cord somehow.

Very Poor Quality
This is a great idea for a product, but it does not work as advertised and is poorly made, and I am returning it for a refund. I found three issues very quickly when I tried it out: 1. It claims to provide 7 levels of brightness ranging from full power to 1/64 power in one stop increments. It doesn't even come close to this. It does indeed provide 7 levels, but the range between the highest and lowest is only about 1 stop, greatly limiting the usefulness of this feature. 2. It comes with a set of "step up rings" (misnamed - they are really adapter rings) that match lenses with different filter thread sizes to the mount on the inside of the ring. There are made of flimsy plastic, and are not quite correctly sized to match the stated thread size. So they do not grip the lens well and tend to just fall off during use. 3. The rings mount does not grip the "step up rings" firmly either, meaning that the ring flash rotates freely around the front of the lens while attached. This is bad because it ruins another feature of the device: the ability to flash with only the left or right side of the ring light. Since the ring won't stay put, left and right could just as easily be up and down or somewhere in between. This makes the right or left side flash feature pretty much useless. I will look for a similar product from a different maker in hope that it is designed and built better than this one.

This is a fraud. Not just the usual garbage, but a fraud.
I bought a ring flash from a company that called itself Ploture. It was seriously worthless, its own parts did not fit together, it just falls off the lens. So I sent it back and bought another. This one is from a company that claims to be Emiral. Different name different model number different price different reviews. But it is the exact same thing. And I really mean exact. Everything about it, except the name, is absolutely identical. Even the instruction booklet is the same (they use some very odd phrasing so the sameness stood out immediately, but it is much deeper than that). It even has the exact same absurd manufacturing flaw, the rings that are needed to connect the device to a camera lens do not hold the device to the lens. The retractable tabs that are supposed to do the job are in the wrong place. The whole model can never have been tested. The worst thing is of course that this is clearly a deliberate fraud. One manufacturer flooding Amazon with identical things that claim to be different. I ran into the same thing about a month ago trying to buy a small safe. Nearly everything chinese, hundreds of hits, but very few products that could possibly be believed to be different. Amazon's complete lack of customer service seriously exacerbates this as there is no way of telling anyone. Although I have no doubt that they are well aware of the situation. I generally don't leave reviews because the requirement that everything must receive a star is offensive. It makes reviews seem much better than they really are, which is obviously the intent.

Perfect Ring Flash
Recently I purchased a DSLR camera and was looking for ring flash when I encountered this one. I love this ring flash as it is bright enough to shoot in the dark environment too. It is also perfect for taking portrait shots. The only thing to consider is that it doesn't include battery pack. I have also attached a video showing how easy it was to connect to my camera.

Good value
I needed to take some indoor shots and needed lighting. Didn't want to spend too much $$$ and this was good solution!! It lights up bright and really easy to use! I didn't even read the instruction but everything were self explanatory. Great lighting at great price. Definitely recommend for home use :)

weak adapting rings and weak flash but does the simple job
yes it works, but not better than my original camera flash, the flash is simply too weak for macro, however it is doing the job and is cheap.

Better than expected.
After buying an expensive one to have it fail just after warranty expired I was reluctant to buy another. This looked good in the pictures, and was a fair price. I am pleased to say on opening the box it was a pleasant surprise to find a useful tool, and addition to my photo lighting. the only problem I can find is that the front light is free to turn on the adapter ring, but I have already an idea in my head how to fix this easily. My earlier one can now give up its travel case to this one, so I have something back from it.
