## Description

From the manufacturer In Line Micro Pump Why Use our In Line Micro Pump Manufactured in the UK the Flowflex In Line Micro Pump is an award winning, innovative product, celebrated for its power versus size properties, winning Best Water Innovation by Imperial College London 2012. Designed as a retro-fit booster, it uses a safe 12-volt brushless motor, which is highly efficient, fully waterproof, with low friction long-life bearings. Due to its size and it’s in line design the pump can be installed where ever is most convenient, it can be installed at any angle or orientation and as it is supplied with a transformer there is no need for an electrician to install the pump. The pump requires a minimum flow rate of 1.8 Litres per minute and can provide flow rates up to 9 Litres per minute. A single pump will double your existing flow rate giving you between 6 - 8 Litres per minute which is sufficient for a good shower or tap flow. UPGRADES & TWO PUMP PACKS In some situations you may need to install two pumps to get the best solution. Upgrades & Two Pump Packs are available and you can use two pumps to Balance the flow, if you have Gravity Hot & Cold. Double Boost, if you have Gravity Hot & Mains Fed Cold. Our team can help advise what is the best solution for your situation. Technical Specifications All Plumbing Systems Boost your water pressure Quiet, fits any anlge or orientation, retro-fit Easy to install: DIY in 3 Steps Min Flow Rate: 1.8 Litres / Min Max Flow Rate: 9 Litres / Min Typical Output: Double your flow 6-8 Litres / Min The Perfect Solution To Increase Water Pressure Anywhere In The Home The Go-To Low Water Pressure Solution Suffering from a low pressure shower? Can't get enough water to your taps? Then the In-Line Micro Pump is probably for you. The In-Line Micro Pump will deliver between 6-8 litres/minute of flow, all while using just 5% of the energy required by traditional pumps. It can be installed by anyone almost anywhere, in any orientation. Even underwater. This unique ease of installation means the In-Line Micro Pump can boost the water supply to any of your appliances or outlets. Where Can I Install The In-Line Micro Pump? Electric Showers Rain Showers Boreholes / Wells Taps Combination Boilers Gravity Fed Systems Mains Pressure Systems Upgrades & Two Pump Packs are available In some situations you may need to install two pumps to get the best solution. · Balance the flow (Gravity Hot & Cold) Most customers only require a single pump but installing two pumps can offer you the complete solution. The SP22S is perfect for gravity systems and is two automatic pumps one installed on the hot side and one installed on the cold side. This will give the system a boost but also keep the pressure balanced meaning you should get no issues with hunting or fluctuations in water pressures & temperatures. · Double Boost (Gravity Hot & Mains Fed Cold) If you have a Gravity Hot Feed and a Mains Fed Cold Feed then you have a Mixed system. If your mains fed cold is higher than the gravity hot side and you are having issues due to this imbalance you will need a Shower Power Booster to give the gravity hot side a boost. If the mains fed is significantly higher adding a second pump to the gravity hot side, giving it a double boost can offer you the complete solution.

Review: Great! - Brilliant. Installation was fairly easy. I had very little room to work in and too long a spanner - with proper tools and/or a bigger airing cupboard it would've been a piece of cake. It took me probably a bit less than an hour, I then had to fit a plug socket in my airing cupboard which took about 20 mins. I don't think there's much they could do to make installation easier really. Maybe include a pipe slice or offer an option that can be wired directly in directly. Who has sockets in their bathroom? All in all though I can't complain, it didn't take long to fit and I learned a few things along the way. Performance is great. Just brilliant. My shower literally did not work before. Maybe a little dribble on a good day. Now it works very well, with the small quirk of having to turn on a hot water tap first to get the pump going. It does have a manual mode, so I could wire up a switch or hook into the lights, etc but I'm happy enough with it like this. It could a limitation with the mixer shower we have. Hot water pressure is noticeably improved throughout the house. It seems to take about half the time to run a bath now. It really is brilliant, I can't overstate how good this thing is. Everyone's house and plumbing is different of course so your milage may vary. It is a little bit noisy. I can't really hear it at all in the bathroom but you can hear it in the next room and the kitchen which is underneath the bathroom. Mainly only when it's powering down, it groans for a few seconds. I haven't used any other hot water pumps but did look at reviews and installation videos for a Salamander pump. The Salamander would be considerably more expensive and probably not DIY friendly. I can say without a doubt that this beats the Salamander on cost and ease of installation. I imagine the Salamander would perform a bit better (it'd have to right?) but this is good enough. You can install a second one to increase pressure even further, which would still be cheaper and easier than the alternatives but 1 works well enough for me.
Review: Great pump - I had a new kitchen fitted, and for some reason the hot water pressure at the new kitchen tap was very low. I bought this as an easy solution, and it works great. Easy to install in line with the hot water tap feed under the sink, and I now have twice the hot water flow. It does make a little bit of noise, but is barely noticeable over the sound of the flowing water from the tap. It takes around a second to kick in automatically, but once running the flow is much better. The one downside is that you need a nearby electrical supply, but if you have a dishwasher (as I do) then you probably have one near to the sink.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: I have low mains water pressure which affects 2 showers in the house. What can you suggest.**
A: We have two showers. The hot water is gravity fed and the cold water is taken from the loft tank to equalise the pressure in the shower. I dont know how the previous owners coped with the pathetic shower pressure. So I fitted two of these in the airing cupboard. One in the hot out from immersion tank (heated by by gas boiler) and one in the cold out from the loft tank. They work very well but it's best if you only have one shower in use at a time. Also if someone opens a hot water tap in a basin or kitchen then the pressure drops, but we are a small household so it's ok. The plus side of this setup is when someone opens the cold tap to water the plants or something, there is no drop in pressure as the water is coming from the loft tank ( which as a complete aside I upgraded to a byelaw 30 one.. much nicer not having bee brains and spider body floating in there.)

I'll try get round to writing a full review. In summary I am happy with these. They are not the cheapest, but they are EASY to fit and the 12V means I could do it myself. I originally fitted one pump only in the hot water feed as suggested, but the shower pulsed as the shower mixer bar tried to balance the temperature. I then fitted another one in the cold feed but due to the hot/cold ratio in the shower I had to connect the cold pump to run when the hot pump is triggered. I bought a y-cable to do that.

Our setup is not perfect. I need to fit a timer to switch off the power to the pumps, otherwise they come on when someone opens a tap in the kitchen for example. This is annoying as the cold pump runs when only the hot is opened so the pump cavitates which doesnt sound great. I plan to fit that to the power strip feeding the AC/DC power supply for the pump. It would be nicer to hook it up to the shower extractor fan, but that means an electrician.

So.. this setup isnt the cheapest but it works and I could do it myself. I am happy with it, but will be happier when I put the timer in. I didnt need to get a plumber or electrican round, so that saved a few quid.

Hope that helps and I'll try write a proper review. I have had them for about 6 weeks now and they work great. Had I known about the cold pump needing to be manual in our setup I could have saved some money buying a manual one to slave off the hot automatic pump, but its done now and I dont want to take it out.

**Q: Hi, can someone explain what the fundamental differences (or pros/cons) of this product are compared to a pump like the Salamander? Thanks**
A: There are several differences between SPB & other pumps. The SPB is an In Line Pump and is suitable for all plumbing systems. Please contact our technical team SPB@flowflex.com for further information

**Q: Is this pump self priming?**
A: Yep it's litterally plug plump and go, when you turn the tap on it auto turns the pump on. Short delay in it picking up the water flow but we are talking only seconds.

**Q: Can this be used with pladtic pipe and fittings**
A: Yes, can be used with 15mm and 22mm plastic pipe as long as you use stiffeners inside plastic pipe.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Easy to install and it works well
*by H***S on 17 August 2019*

It was installed in a gravity fed hot water system with main cold water. It was easy to install and works well. It is reasonably quiet although we can hear the sound of pump in a kitchen down stairs (bath room is above kitchen) as the noise transfer through the hot water copper pipe. We only used it for three times but so far I am happy. Hope it is reliable. I have coveted the DC 12V connectors with plastic pipe to reduce risk of water gets in the connector in case of accidental leakage as the connectors are not water proof.
