Even with the input at *zero*, the signal on this thing was ridiculously hot. The resultant recordings had a very ugly, harsh sound to them (despite the fact I made sure there was no clipping.) I recorded the same hats with a Behringer C-2 and the result was infinitely better.Maybe it was my equipment. Maybe I had a lemon. I don't know. All I know is that this is something I would only use if I had absolutely nothing else available (if I still owned it and hadn't sold it for a few bucks at a music store.) ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Would recommend after cap mod *by G***G on Reviewed in the United States πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ on June 29, 2016* I bought a pair of these guys with the full intention of modding them. And I did so. I never even plugged them up unmod'd but I've heard several versions of this same mic before. But I did an affordable $8 cap mod on each mic. Only had to desolder/resolder 6 points on each mic. An easy job with little soldering experience. After the mod these are really nice sounding mics. Especially for $35 + 8 per mic. The high end is tamed and not as gritty as similar priced mics. They sound nice and full bodied too. I think you'd be hard pressed to find another mic that sounds this good (with the mod) for under $100-$200 a piece. Would recommend them for sure.Ive only used these on drum overheads so far. I was looking for a small condensor to place over my ride cymbal to gain a tad more control aside from the stereo over heads I am already using. This mic was my choice because of my past experience with Nady products and the price. It has a full clear sound with very high gain. What I actually ended up doing was using it as my Hi Hat mic and using the AKG i had over the ride with fantastic results. The only thing I can say is the mic does not have a low end roll off switch which would make it it top notch, but that was easy to remedy by just using a parametric EQ to gain the results I wanted. 2 thumbs up for the Nady condensor.
