Like magic. **Q: Can you unroll them?** A: No they do not unroll. **Q: Is it best to use these with water alone, or will they work better when used with a scouring powder, such as Bon Ami?** A: I've done both. For baked on grease, using powder loosens the grime. **Q: Can you unroll and cut them to make a flat piece of mesh for other purposes?** A: You can’t unroll but you can cut with scissors but I’m warning you that once you cut, it leaves little pieces everywhere so so it over a bag or trash. Unfortunately, sea water has critters and vegetation which clog anything, whether a bottom of a boat or a hose or a pipe. Fortunately for our purposes, critters and vegetation don't like copper. So I cut one up and put it in the intake of our cooling line, and the remainder in the filter. It should stop our clogging for good, now, and is fine enough that it doesn't impede water flow at the volumes we use.
