A lot has changed in the last 5 years...
the price seems a bit high, but the quality is much higher than the last pen i owned. It works well with PLA/ABS. I still need to test it with TPU. The slow speed is slow enough for good control. The temperature control works well. It was a bit surprising that the recommended temperatures are much lower than those for my Tornado Printer. The case comes apart easily with the supplied spudger. The head is held on by a very small screw, and a screwdriver for it is provided. I was unable to get the head off. I should watch the video. The body of the pen is much narrower, which makes it a lot easier to hold and control. Double pressing the feed button locks it on, so you get a constant extrude without having to hold the button. All in all a nice little pen to add to my tool set.

I'm hooked on the MYNT3D Pen
I'm writing this review after one day of use and with no basis for comparison, because this is the first pen I have like this. After I buy a few more to review, I may or may not update this as needed. I got this for my mom and decided to "learn" it so I can help her if she needed it. Here's my list of findings: I am giving 5 stars at this point because the pen does what it advertises and comes as described. Personal opinions are denoted as such. TL;DR- I like it. It works. It's as described, and it's fun. Who's this for?: Everybody really. Children, with supervisor, can easily and safely use this pen to get creative. Also, it's not just for art related things, it can be used for household tasks of repairing plastic items. The end result of the plastic is hard and depending on how much filament is used, it can be brittle or tough. I would not call it bendy or pliable. Pros: COST- very affordable, including replacement heads, plastic filament, and 3rd party items EASE OF USE- Extremely easy to use with a small learning curve. Not as dainty or fragile as I thought it would be. Really detailed projects will take practice, but I believe really creative people will have a blast making all sorts of things with this. I did make a 3D box, including "writing" vertically, and it was easy enough as to not require extraordinary patience. I made several written scripts with this and a couple of 2D things like a butterfly and a heart. I'm not creative at all, so I was just making stuff up to see how it worked and show my mom. It was so easy that I kept trying to find things to do. I also ended up fixing the end of a broken plug by filling in the gaps and repairing the break. So it's not just for art that this might be of use to some. QUALITY- Nice box presentation, and most importantly SIMPLE. The pen feels good, it's plastic and light. Even with the squared sides, it does feel comfortable in the hand and does not get in the way of the project. SETUP/OPERATION- I was up and running within 3 minutes of opening the box. It's fairly self explanatory, but there are many videos available to help. Setting the temperature and waiting for warm up took less than a minute, then loading the filament took a few seconds and I was ready to start pushing plastic. I went through the red spool pretty quickly just messing around, but I'm not bothered by that as replacement spools in larger sizes are available. Might have been nice to include more plastic as I'm sure it's not very expensive to produce, but I understand sample packs and residual income. CONS: (disclaimer: I had to think REALLY hard to find cons about this thing) The power cord is short. Too short. You can use a power brick with this, but it has to put out 2A continual power. That's probably more useful depending how close your desk is to a plug. Obviously you can use an extension cord too, but I think the power adapter should have been a touch longer. I do think more filament should be included in the sample pack, but this is understandable since the company would want you to go buy more, so this is just an opinion. I think it should ship with a carrying case. (subjective)

Important Discovery! Try this before returning your pen.
So, I received my pen yesterday and initially, I was having some trouble with it. It seemed that it would only run consistently if the feed rate was at full speed. Anything lower and the unit would "reboot" for a lack of a better word. I searched through the reviews and comments and found that a few others had the same issue but no one had commented that there was any kind of solution. I was ready to get on Amazon this morning and request a replacement be sent. Before doing that, I found one of the comments mentioned having a bad USB power supply. I plugged the pen into a newer Samsung phone charger and it worked flawlessly. The key here is that even if the phone charger isn't much higher than the 2.0 amps that the included pen charger claims to have, cheaper chargers don't always put out a constant supply of power that a name brand one would. I agree that it can be a minor inconvenience to have to find your own charger when this pen is supposed to include one, but in my own opinion, its a small price to pay for a very decent 3D pen. And honestly, many of us have more phone chargers than we know what to do with. It is important to note here that the USB phone charger you use, MUST be labeled as having at least 2.0 amps or some might show it as 2000 mAh. Some phone chargers are even higher amps and I really don't know if higher amps are not recommended for this pen or not. I don't think 2.4 amps or close to it would hurt anything. I would definitely stick with a well known name brand of charger like Apple, Samsung or LG. I also know that I have had some good results with the brand Anker you typically see on Amazon. I haven't had a chance to use the pen very much being only had it for about 24 hours but being an experienced engineer, for the price, this looks like a decent pen. I hope this saves some of you who have this issue, some headaches. As far as the lack of instructions... YouTube! Otherwise, maybe the reason for so little instructions is that there really is nothing complicated about this pen. plug it in, set them temp, feed the filament and have fun!

1. Precision & Control OLED Display: This is the standout feature. The small screen shows you the exact temperature of the nozzle. Why does this matter? Different brands of plastic filament melt at slightly different temperatures. Being able to adjust by 1-degree increments prevents the plastic from burning or clogging. Speed Slider: Instead of a button with 2-3 speeds, this pen has a physical slider. You can dial it down to a crawl for detailed vertical lines or crank it up to fill in large areas quickly. This "stepless" control is a major advantage over competitors like the 3Doodler Create+. 2. Material Compatibility Versatility: Because you can adjust the heat (130°C to 240°C), you are not locked into one brand of filament. It works with standard 1.75mm PLA (biodegradable, smells sweet) and ABS (stronger, smells like burning plastic). Exotic Materials: Advanced users report success using wood-infused or copper-infused filaments, provided they adjust the temperature correctly. 3. Build & Ergonomics Design: The pen is surprisingly slim and light (roughly the size of a fat permanent marker), making it comfortable to hold for long sessions. Power: It runs on USB power, but it requires a 5V 2A output. This means you can run it off a high-quality portable power bank, making it portable. However, the included cable is somewhat short, which can restrict your movement if you are tethered to a wall outlet. 4. Maintenance & Durability The Nozzle: The nozzle is ultrasonic-sealed to prevent leaks, but clogs are inevitable with 3D pens. A huge "Pro" for this model is that the nozzle is replaceable. If you jam it permanently, you can buy a replacement nozzle for ~$8 rather than trashing the whole pen. Learning Curve: It is not "plug and play" like a glue gun. You need to learn how to feed filament correctly and, crucially, unload it immediately after use. If you let the plastic cool inside the pen, it will jam. Should You Buy It? YES, IF: You are an adult, teen, or artist wanting to make actual sculptures, cosplay props, or repairs to 3D prints. The precision controls are unbeatable for the price. NO, IF: You are buying this for a child under 10. The hot tip is dangerous, and the maintenance required to prevent clogs will frustrate a young child. For them, get a "low temp" pen like the 3Doodler Start+.

Temperature range was not as advertised, but still worked better that I thought it would!
I purchased this 3d pen because it was the only pen advertised as being able to go to 240⁰ Celsius and I needed that temperature to make a repair using ASA, which according to about every manufacturer requires 240-260⁰C to print properly. ASA is essentially the same as ABS chemically, but has a far better UV stability and is great for outdoor weather longevity. Whatever the difference, it supposedly takes slightly more heat than ABS to print properly. When I unboxed the pen and plugged it in, the temperature setting would only go to 230⁰C, max! I was upset and about to send it back. The advertising was misleading, 10⁰C difference is significant enough that it can be the difference between being printable and not! I was about to freak out and put in a nasty review also. However, I was pleasantly surprised that despite being 10⁰C+ too low in temp, the ASA went through it and printed/bonded really well, even at the fastest feed rate it had no problem putting ASA through it. No clogs, complete control! Nice!!! It's surprisingly slim compared to other pens I've seen or used also. As I have only used this pen with ASA one time, I cannot speak to it's longevity or versatility with other filament materials as of yet, but I am very pleased with it's ease of use and single degree incremental control, even if it's 10⁰C less than I thought it was. The feed speed control is quite nice and simple also. If you want to avoid hand cramping from pressing and holding the feed button, you have the option to double click the feed button and it becomes a continuous feed without holding the button; although, the button isn't all that difficult to press and really shouldn't give you hands cramps anyway, but it's nice to know you have that option and I did use it. The only way they could improve this pen is to give it more temperature capability into the poly carbonate extrusion range so that any filament material you want to put through it, you could! I am very surprised that no one has made one available that has up to 360⁰C range at least because some very expensive 3d prints can go bad and these pens serve as a fantastic repair option to fix many types of misprints, but limiting these pens to pretty much only ABS and PLA doesn't save very expensive misprints or allow you to fix random broken things around your home, business, or property! Why not make one available that can extrude any filament material on the market? I did see one pen that supposedly can do into the poly carbonate range, but the only place you can find it wants almost $500 for it! Not worth it if you can get a 3d printer for that price!

Great! I Would Buy It Again
This is so great, I recommended it to my friend and they got it too. I have a 3D printer, but some things are better suited freehand. This allows you to break free of restraints of build plate restraints and allows you to do things that may fail on a printer because you can vary the control yourself, like a vertical standing string. There is a learning curve, you will definitely need more filament. I really like that this allows temperature settings for abs and pla. I can make 2 flat objects and then join them at off angles which I really like to create true 3d objects with ease. This of course comes at the cost of it only being as accurate as your hand moves. I suggest starting with the speed at the lowest level. Play with the temperature if needed. I suggest buying a roll of 20$ Pla filament for 3d printers like hatchbox unless you want the color variety. Then buy a 3d pen variety kit, but it will be more expensive. I was nervous about the temperature, but in reality, I can touch the filament as it just came out of the tip. I made a stand as my first project to hold the pen, but it turns out, letting sit flat on the silicone mat worked fine. The fresh pla was hot but wont leave a burn. The speed control, temperature control, and ease of use is amazing. Beware the chord is kinda short, i used it about 4ft from the plug, you may need an extension chord. The box it came in was packaged so nice! You’ll want a pair of tiny precision wire snips to cut off excess drool from your print, since as you pull away it will leave strings. I also got the myint doodle pad which was nice but not necessary to make precise shapes. I found the prints sometimes cooled and peeled off my surface. Using masking tape helped it adhere better, as is the same with 3d printing. If its an issue for someone, I wonder if some sort of mild heated bed would work, like a beverage heater..? I find in my use, the nozzle gets covered in the filament as I rub it around, so I bought a brush set from the dollar store and it works perfect to brush off the filament while the tips hot to keep it clean. I had to switch from red to green and it was very easy to change filament, both by unloading and by just following up. Be sure to read the little manual. I have never got a clog yet. By loading directly, I did get a weird color, with red and green it wasn’t pretty, but I could see this being useful in applications to change colors often and create beautiful effects, although that is likely not recommended since it could cause clogs. The pen fits nicely in my hand and is easy to manipulate. I was worried it would be big, but it is just right.

Good 3D Pen, but the power supply has issues
This is my second 3D pen, I previously ordered the TECBOSS model and wanted to try something different. Still have the TECBOSS. The MYNT3D pen has some nice functions that the TECBOSS doesn’t. For one, the MYNT3D’s speed control is superior. More range, especially on the slow end, and can be adjusted DURING feeding. The other thing I love over the TECBOSS is that the feed has two modes, press and hold, and double click for continuous feed. It also has a much wider temperature range. That being said, at 180F the TECBOSS runs much hotter. I needed to set the MYNT3D into the ABS range to get PLA to flow right - but it has the range. My only beef is the power supply - it must not be putting out the rates 2A because the pen keeps shutting down and feed struggles. I used an Apple 2.1A supply and the pen worked great - no issues. The MYNT3D is also serviceable (a door can be popped open). The TECBOSS is completely sealed, no option to repair it. Overall the MYNT3D is a good pen, and I would recommend it over the TECBOSS, but seems there’s some quality issues (TECBOSS isn’t without its quality issues either, I had to return the first one when the feed button completely stopped responding). I would recommend the MYNT3D PRO, but would also recommend returning it for another or reaching out the CS if it’s acting strange. Update: still NOT using the power supply it came with, but otherwise thrilled with the pen’s performance. Was able to make a model car for my son with a bit of practice.

Highly recommend!! Great features
Purchased as a gift for granddaughter and she was thrilled! She's 10 and extremely creative (also a PERFECTIONIST,, so we tried watching a few HOW TO videos to ensure success out of the gate ..) It was good to see that some things shown on ticktock are not realistic without MUCH EXPERIENCE... (this was a good precursor for us to view for sure!!) Regardless.. the first hour was a bit rough... She got very frustrated for the first hour saying she hated this thing... After much encouragement and pushing forward on a detailed project--- she completed and was quite pleased! 😍🤪 I tried to encourage her to start with something basic like tracing shapes on the plastic to get the hang of it, the desired speed, etc... but true to her personally, she refused and insisted on tackling something complex FIRST! ANYWAY, she loves it now... We definitely recommend.. This one seemed to have best reviews and features. We ordered a case and package of extra filament which REALLY excited her .. the pen only comes with a few small rolls of colors like blue, black, white.. (might read package to verify the colors).. Also, we had some dollar tree slide in plastic slip holders that worked great to slide her picture into that she wanted to use as her template for creating a Stitch Christmas Tree ornament... Videos we watched suggested having something like that to be able to easily peel off your creation... Doing onto paperv often leaves the paper attached permanently... Soaking off with water might help if you accidentally encounter that.. Have fun! I did reviews on the other filament & case too..
