Men's Air Force A-2 Leather Flight Bomber Jacket (Regular and Big & Tall)

Ok, I was looking for a leather jacket for, at best, occasional use and as such I didn't want to spend much on it at all. After a bit of searching I came upon this jacket and, although dubious at the price, ordered it. First, the shipping seemed impossibly fast from Pakistan to my door in just 4 days including a holiday. Another reviewer commented on the cuffs and waist feeling like wool, I agree they do, I also agree that the zipper sure -looks- like a real deal Talon zipper and it works quite smoothly. The leather is as thick as any of the more expensive leathers I've owned over the years, it is supple and with a bit of wearing I suspect will be quite comfortable. Please note that is not to say the jacket is comfortable out of the bag, it certainly is! There are no errors in the stitching and it all looks tight and neat. All of the hardware is well seated and seems durable. The lining is fairly light weight and it being 87F here just now so I can't speak to how it will be in the cold, but that's a tiny trade off for such a surprisingly nice jacket. Also, the back is a single piece and not a patchwork like jackets at even higher pricepoints. I encourage you to view their size chart as I feel like the jacket is small, at least by American standards, for the number of X'es in my selected size, but it sized -exactly- as stated in their chart. So, yeah, if you're looking for this style of jacket you will do MUCH worse than this, I'd order one before the seller realizes that they can charge much more than they are and still be delivering a product at a fair price.

This is the second A2 I have purchased from FIVESTAR Leather. Both jackets are of very good quality. Hooks, snaps are all in the right place. The weight of the jacket is perfect. The Original was a "Summer Flying Jacket". This jacket is a little heavier but great for fall, winter and spring. The stitching is impeccable. The "Talon" zipper could be a little more robust and is my only complaint. Time will tell. The jacket fits snug by design. The XL fit me well at 5'9" 190lbs. Based on the two I have purchased I would stick to your normal jacket size. For those who are a little wider around the middle go a size up. There have been comments about the "smell". The "smell is part of the process of tanning and off gasses within 48 hours. The color is a warm medium brown and looks great. This is a complete and utter disaster! The photos shown in the ad are not the jacket that I received. I gave my measurements and the jacket is still too small even with just a t-shirt on. Please note the ad photo showing a nice A-2 Jacket with the label and US Army Airforce logo on the inside. Now take a look at the label on the jacket that they sent. The color is a rich brown on the ad; the reality is a very light yellowish tan on the actual garment. The snaps at the bottom on the ad are not visible; the reality can be seen in the photo of the actual jacket where the snaps are clearly visible. Other reviews have mentioned a smell and that is the case here too. I think that it is just the fresh leather odor, not sure how long that will last. However, the jacket is hanging in my garage to air out as I cannot let it permeate into other clothes in the closet. Just trying it on had me changing clothes to get rid of the odor. There are no collar snaps as on a real A-2 jacket. I am extremely displeased with this product. I will say that the tailoring is very good. Okay, here we go again. They sent me an e-mail after I sent this critique to them. They said that they sent the wrong jacket and would replace it with the correct version. Well, they at least got the color correct on the replacement. However, it is still not the jacket that is advertised. See the new photos attached to this review. We agreed on an Extra Large but they sent a large again. I cannot even zip the jacket. The arms are so tight that I am afraid to bend my arm for fear of the jacket tearing. The details are all wrong. The epaulets are wrong, the bottom snap is wrong, the A-2 information on the inside of the collar is not there instead they put their label on the inside collar, the collar snaps are not there as on the advertisement. It is not what I ordered and I am at a loss to understand how they can advertise this jacket and then send something entirely different. Have to say though that the tailoring is very good. But that is not the point. I ordered an A-2 flight jacket not some knock-off.

I ordered my first jacket in my prevailing size, but in the 2XL, it was too tight everywhere! Very impressed with the quality of the goatskin leather and associated trim features, I ordered a 3XL My return and credit were handled promptly, and my new jacket arrived as expected. The new jacket is also snug, but it fit, and after several days of wear I find it is like a new baseball glove and requires a break-in period for the stiff leather to get more supple and flexible. This is my second week of wear and as I had hoped, it is gaining flexibility and stretching for my comfort. The quality and appearance are Perfect in my eyes and it is made to last, my only complaint are the sizing and cotton liner, especially in the arms, since it makes it tough to get a sweater or sweatshirt in them. Appearance and quality are top flight, fit, not so much.

Beware: While I chose “fit as expected” note that, at the urging of the seller, I double checked the accurate size chart for this item. Which is why it fit. The review: I was skeptical that anyone could produce a quality goatskin A2 for a decent price without it being 8 small chunks of hide stitched together. Not wanting a horsehide A2 for a pair of compelling reasons (takes forever to break in and costs as much as a good suit), I decided to try these guys out of Lahore Pakistan. Figuring they have a metric shit-ton of quality goat skin available, why not? The first thing to note is the fit and finish. The fit was exact and the finish too shiny just like the photos. A slow careful all over rub with a clean cloth and grain alcohol took care of the shimmer and a bit of industrial smell. Nothing left but hide smell. Next, the details. A2’s had wool knit cuffs and waist bands. I swear these are wool, but if so, why isn’t that specified on the label? Something to brag about. The press studs are high quality, accurately placed and tastefully colored. The neck closure is accurately hook and eye and the zipper... don’t get me going about zippers. Real A2’s ALL had Talon zippers made in Meadville Pennsylvania USA. They were bomb-proof, all your Levi’s had them, but the company went belly up. Well, these guys managed to find the real deal. That or they are very talented counterfeiters. The military contract label is true to the period as well. Impressive, very impressive. I can be a bit hyper-critical when asked to be. In the end the only flaw I can find in this jacket is a lack of a closure on the goatskin zipper gusset at the waist. Seems a good place to put another hook and eye or press stud.

A nice summer jacket. Very thin and lightweight. Size runs small, lots of shipping smell from diesel. Cost is an extra $35 to return for size adjustments.

This jacket was shipped from Pakistan, arrving in a few days by DHL. The material quality and workmanship are superior. I have 3 other WWII-style dark brown leather bomber jackets, all from different sources. This one is as good as any of the others. The odor of the chemicals used to treat the leather, has diminished by 50% in the first day of hanging in a ventilated room. The leather is slightly stiff, as it should be until it gets broken in by being worn. The heavy thread stitching is careful, linear, and tight. There's an interior deep pocket on the left side. It's beautifully detailed at all points. Above the interior label is a stiched loop for hanging on a hook - very unusual and sturdy. This is a Christmas gift for a somewhat petite lady, hence the Men's XS size choice. I tried it on and it's going to fit her perfectly. It was shipped in a soft plastic tear-resistant bag, and it was protected by being contained within yet another bag and was wrapped in tissue paper. The interior bag is soft woven cloth with a drawstring that I'm going to keep for hauling laundry to the dry cleaners. First class touch, Seller! Many years ago, I sold men's clothing for one of the biggest companies in the U.S. I would have been proud to sell this jacket. The photos tell the story, folks.

Jacket arrived in a USPS plastic shipping bag; the bag inside of the USPS bag was a ripped and barely covered the jacket - nothing like the advertising picture of a nice cloth bag. Jacket appeared to be a quality product but was too small (ordered a L, but too tight across the back; being 5'9" 185#, I normally wear a L in everything else). Was planning to reorder an XL, but the 15% restocking fee turned me off to this seller.

Wanted to charge duty at the door. Caused upset at care residence, trouble returning. Amazon helped and was able to return without problem.
