Next, I talk with an HP representative on the phone and they do not repair out of warranty scanners. I tried finding a service agency approved by HP and the closest was in Pennsylvania and I live in NC. I am on my own... and off to the dumpster for this POS. Never will I buy any HP device again. In total about 4 scanners were purchased. About a year after purchase they ALL had thick black vertical lines on one side of the scanned document. I reached out to HP and they replaced one of the scanners and with a few months the new scanner had the same problem.
