The AOR Bible: 400 Essential Masterpieces

After a lack of any good AOR literature and the sad decline of the 'Classic Rock Presents: AOR' series, I was hoping this book might just be my fix. Unfortunately, it's really just a reference book, an A-Z of AOR classic albums, but not even with 3 or 4 sentences to accompany each album with album highlights. Perhaps just the top 200 albums would have been better to allow some description of them? Furthermore, the tributes to Fergie Frederiken and Jimi Jamison are painfully short (just one parargraph for two vocal legends) and being a massive Fiona fan, I was hoping for an interview or 'beginners guide to' for her. Overall, I can't recommend this for the price, as the book really needed much more than pictures of albums sleeves (I might have well been on rateyourmusic.com!) - and a few forewords (the best part). Again, disappointing.

The books is really good but could have been so much better. All we get is a picture of the album and a few notes of the band and what the band is compared to and that’s it. Missed opportunity

Wer sich mit diesem Genre der Rockmusik schon angefreundet hat oder noch anfreunden will, ist dies das ideale Buch, um sich über die Heroen des AOR zu informieren oder gegebenenfalls noch einige Alben zu finden, die dem geneigten Fan wie mir durch die Maschen geschlüpft sind. Ich habe auch nur 65-70% der genannten Alben in meiner Sammlung und einiges nachzuholen. Frederic P. Slama hat seine 400 Topalben aufgeführt, ich persönlich hätte noch einige wie Blue Tears oder Simon chase (nur Beispiele) hinzugefügt. Geschmackssache halt. Insgesamt über ein doch perfekter Überblick über die Musikrichtung, die durch das Aufkommen des Grunge, der die Musikszene total verwüstet hat, einen herben Rückschlag erleben musste, sich aber seit einigen Jahren wieder, vermehrt in Skandinavien und Resteuropa, erholen konnte und die Fans mit dem gewünschten Futter bedient.

いわゆるメロディアスハードロックに括られる名盤、好盤を集めた本。 情報はアーティスト名、アルバムタイトル、ジャケ写、参加ミュージシャン、プロデューサー、類似アーティストのみ。 国内の類似本だと、著者の感想や暑い思いや、追加情報（や、いらない情報）まであるのが普通だが、それに比べると情報が少ないと感じる。また４００枚ぐらい掲載されていたとしても、国内の類似本に載っているものがほとんどで、知らなかったものは数枚ぐらい（DVC,LaMarcaとか）しかなかったので、これで５０００円以上とはちょっとなぁ…と思う。 数名のミュージシャンからの寄稿はおおっ！と思うものもあるけどね。

Avec ce nouveau livre, l'auteur nous propose un tour d'horizon des 400 meilleurs albums de Rock FM et de Westcoast coté Rock. Plein d'informations et des rubriques passionnantes concernant l'Aor font de ce livre une véritable petite merveille comme les précédents. INDISPENSABLE !

L'un des meilleurs ouvrages de l'auteur. Pratique et utile, cette bible révèle près de 400 chefs-d'oeuvres que l'on aimerait bien avoir dans sa collection de disques AOR.
