That means this unit can only do constant voltage or constant current, not both at the same time which, for some applications is a serious drawback. My unit is 2 years old and still performing well, though I did not mishandled it or pushed to its limits very often. As it is a switching power supply, expect some capacitance especially when powering of (power fades slowly) and powering on (power surges suddenly with over voltage ). ### ⭐ Was bought Jun 23rd it fried Sept 11. Lasted less than 3 months *by K***Y on Reviewed in the United States on September 11, 2018* Worked fine until something inside fried blowing the fuse and when replaced it blew that one too. This almost fits the bill but I wish I would have paid a little more and gotten the 10 amp version. I thought 5 amps would be plenty starting out but just a string of programmable LED lights draws more current than 5 amps.
