Lives up to the Canon name
I love that it has both the flash and the scan cards - never fill a card. Great photos every time. I do not like that I have to push a button to change the settings instead of just turning the dial. That is very inconvenient. Other than that, it more than lives up to he Canon name and quality.

Lackluster for its category, failing to deliver what matters most
This camera disappoints. It has two major flaws that prevent it from fulfilling the essential purpose of a camera in its category. A prosumer camera should enable a person to easily control all the major vital functions of a camera, so that one can either step up from more basic consumer cameras and take control with non-automated photography on a regular basis, or step down from a fully professional camera and mostly give up more advanced features that are of little to no use for them, particularly. The 7D Mark II turns out to be a terrible miss. Major flaw #1 a stupidly positioned exposure level indicator on the far side of the viewfinder that can be nearly impossible to actually see most of the time. If you wear glasses, you're going to be SOL. This makes manual shooting extremely difficult, at best, pushing the user toward semi-auto modes. The bottom exposure level scale is exclusively devoted to exposure compensation, and is therefore deactivated in manual mode. This was such a stupid approach to things it makes one wonder whether Canon actually ever uses their own cameras. What's worse is that this could have been changed with a firmware update, but they never bothered. Canon received tons of complaints about this over the years, and simply gave their customers a giant middle finger. The notion of a prosumer class camera actively discouraging and inhibiting users from being able to shoot in manual easily is inexcusable. Major flaw #2 is a sensor that makes it impossible achieve proper exposure in most outdoor scenarios. It takes a special kind of stupid to design a camera so that images will end up clipped out at both the high and low end in normal daylight. At best, you can have the sign bearing directly in someone's face, and you will either have to allow the background sky to clip out as too bright when the face is properly exposed, or underexpose the face so badly that your only option will be to lift the highlights so much in post that the final result is noisy as a rocket launch. These issues were not present with other contemporary models, like the 70D. And they're especially odd considering that the 7D Mark II was clearly designed especially for uses like sports and wildlife photography, as indicated by its more complex autofocus features. Such applications require very fast setting adjustments and shooting in unpredictable conditions. But the camera's limitations in fact limit it's performance to be best suited for much slower paced shooting in highly controlled environments. While it's certainly not the most modern camera in the first place, it still comes from a generation that continues to have use. But the 7D Mk II specifically never really bore itself out. Anyone considering a camera of this type should put this at the bottom of the list.

Very disapointed
I am very disappointed in this camera. The auto focus does not work like it should. I have been in contact with Cannon. It will cost a lot of money to get it fixed. I can not return the product because of the time that has passed. I have had this camera for only 3 months and have been fighting with it every time i use it. I was trying to give it the benefit. I did the update and still does not work well. I also can't register this camera do it it was not intended to be sold in the USA. I am not stuck with a camera that I fight with to get to auto focus every time I use it.

for what i read in reviews the 7DMII is like a mini 1Dx
for the little buffer of the nikon D7100 I made the switch to Canon for this camera the other thing was the 10fps. for what i read in reviews the 7DMII is like a mini 1Dx. the great AF fully exceeded my expectations in every way, It is fast and accurate. The 7D ii is built extremely well and the controls are superior. the dual card slots (CF/SD) is really excellent. The menu system great, well laid out and informative

Worth the price for a dedicated amateur
2200 dollars is not too much to pay for a camera that delivers as this one does. I am a dedicated amateur who appreciates good equipment and this has not disappointed. The one feature that I appreciate the most is the ability to take ten shots per second. Although my primary interest is food photography, in my spare time I like to take nature shots and nothing at the same price point allows me to take great shots of birds and wildlife like the rapid fire shooting capability of my 7D. One day I may be tempted to spring for a 5D but I am sure that I will keep this body. It pleased me well.
