Review: Great when updated to Community Build Image - The Retron 77 was fine out of the box for 95% of my PAL Atari 2600 games. I also bought a "Ranger" controller separately which works very well with paddle games. I'm pleased with this item and the joystick is excellent, the stick does come a little loose with use but can be tightened up again. For the record I'm using the Retron 77 via an HDMI to S-video/RCA converter on an old CRT TV. Altogether I'm very pleased with this item which is a nice alternative to my old Pal Atari VCS Woody console. It comes with a micro SD card which can be swapped out with a community build image, see the AtariAge forum for details.

The Retron 77 was fine out of the box for 95% of my PAL Atari 2600 games. I also bought a "Ranger" controller separately which works very well with paddle games. If you have a broken old Atari with all the games this is a no brainier. Better than buying a retro one as you have the benefit of a reliable console with HDMI plus you can use your old games PLUS download stacks of free ones onto SD card you couldn’t afford as a kid for free now!! It is brilliant I’d give it 10 stars if I could. Better than the new Atari consoles with games pre-programmed as they are not as responsive as this one. This is just like playing the old Atari. Only a slight bit of lag, hardly noticeable.
