Solid, works.
Works with no audible click when muting. Solid steel, heavy enough to keep it in place with thick XLR cables attached. Well made, recommended.

You need a noise gate for this to work properly, and it can be momentary or locking as you see fit.
There are negative reviews from people who do not understand this device. I understand this device, so let me tell you how it works. It works just fine, and you will not get a better device by spending three times the money on the Short Stop. There may be a slight click in the line when you use this, so you need a noise gate to cut this out of the recording. The device does not completely disconnect your microphone, so if you hit the button and cough, and you don't have a noise gate, there will be a lowered but still audible cough in your recording. These things will still happen even if you buy a device that costs triple, and I know this because I have owned both. Some reviews say you cannot make this work as a momentary switch. Those reviews are inaccurate. If you read the instructions, it tells you how to make the device work as a locking or momentary switch, and you can make it go back and forth as you see fit. I have these buttons, and the foot pedal models of the same brand. I find this button version infinitely preferable, because the pedal version has a tendency to wear over time and can be rendered somewhat unreliable. This button is great because you will feel it click and you will know it is muted so you can do what you must. This is the best deal on this type of device and you will not get a better device by spending more money.

Solid piece for the job + bonus stuff!
I've purchased probably 10-15 of these switches for use on our mobile productions for talent since they're usually not near the mixing board. They're built well and do the job as intended. However, on my last purchase I was expecting a 6-ft XLR cord as a bonus, per the description. I didn't receive that.... I got something closer to a 20-ft XLR cord 😂. So cannot complain there, at all, even if 20 is overkill for what we're doing. We'll find a use for them somehow. Only real qualm about these is the long-term durability. We've noticed more bleedover and less-than-mute scenarios when engaging the button the older the units have become. But if we push a certain direction it tends to be better than the others (i.e. from the top side vs the bottom side). We've never torn them apart and serviced them and checked everything, but I also know we're hard on equipment, sometimes doing 120+ broadcasts a year with these things. So whatever it is, it's likely a quick fix. Still, this is the go-to for us when it comes to a quick mute switch/cough button for our talent.

Momentary doesn’t work with new button. New button is cheap.
I purchased this box with hope that I could use it as somewhat of a talkback for clients. I wanted the button to be momentary and when pressed, to turn it on. After receiving it, I was amazed at how cheap the main button/switch was. Older pictures of this unit shows a silver button that looks high quality. But now it appears they decided to go to a different button. Everything else with the unit seems to be built so sturdy and high quality, so why did the skimp on the button (the main part of the product)? But that wasn’t the worse part. I opened it up to change the switch from latching to momentary. The instructions were quite vague on how to do it, but I believe I did everything exactly as they describe and when I did this, the button would stick high above the chassis (see photo) and it could easily be pulled the rest the way out. I believe that they didn’t test this new switch with momentary options because it is absolutely horrible as a momentary switch.

Great Build... Durable... Mic Bleed?
Nicely built Rolls quality. Metal chassis and rubber feet make it so the unit won't tip or slide when pushed carelessly. I push all my buttons carelessly. Comes in blister pack, where the unprotected white button might get damaged in transit from the weight of the unit bouncing around, so be sure to test before you toss the packaging! White screen-printed text can be scratched off very easily. Dead mute when using non-powered dynamic mics (Shure SM58), but some significant mic bleed (what I was dreading) when used with +48v powered condenser and ribbon mics (Shure SM7B). I think the unit cannot stop the bleed from the high-gain pre-amp since this unit needs to be placed between the mic source, but before phantom power. Whereas, with a dynamic mic, a high-gain preamp is not needed, and therefore no bleed (which is ironic because dynamic mic users could just get a cable with a mute switch). See the screenshot. The left side of the waveform is my Shure SM7 un-muted, and the right side of the waveform is after I've muted the Rolls MS111. You will see the mic bleed when using a high-gain microphone. Still works for me, just better whisper anything I'd like to keep private when muted. ;)

FANTASTIC AFFORDABLE ON OFF INTERRUPT SWITCH
This works as advertised and it’s incredibly easy to use, just like using a mouse. I needed a on off switch for my Rode microphone during my podcast. This was simple to use, a no-brainer. Push button in to mute. There is a selectable switch that allows you to reverse the function of the button. Either way, a ridiculously simple yet effective device and you may want more than one. XLR.
