Norpro 4-in-1 Egg Slicer, Wedger, Piercer and Garnish Tool

Wow! I just love it. I haven't used it yet but it appears to be very well made with heavy plastic and strong metal slicers, as good as an expensive one I already have. This tool can also be used to make SIX egg wedges rather than the four we get when we do it ourselves with a knife. I use the egg slicer once, turn the egg side-ways and slice through again giving you chopped eggs ready for egg salad or adding to salad, etc. It also has a piercer cleverly and safely placed in the front. Simply turn to right or left for pierce to show. It looks like a prick for diabetics. It also contains a little spoon-like device supposedly for decorating and playing with which clicks into it's own little home between the wedger and the slicer. It looks to be a very sturdy tool with many uses. 1-25-12: I used it over the weekend. Even better than I expected. Very sturdy. Love the 6-slice wedger. And every bit as good as my "expensive" egg slicer.

This is an excellent tool! Its build quality and materials, and its finish and appearance are first rate. All functions work as designed, and with ease. It is easy to clean. I highly recommend it. I have a very fussy dog, a female Yorkshire Terrier. I adopted her a year ago, she was age 7. She won't eat commercial dog food, so I get to make her food. I include "hard cooked" eggs, which I buy at the market already cooked (Eggland's Best). This "Norpro Egg Slicer" makes cutting eggs for inclusion in "Rosie's" food easy. I save a lot of time, this was a good purchase. It cuts in 2 patterns: slices and "star." It has an egg piercing function with a tiny metal point, that has a little cover that locks in a safe condition. There is also a tiny "V" shaped "cutter;" place a cooked egg on end in the "star" shaped cutter, and use the V cutter to make a decorative egg.

I have no idea what possessed me to buy an egg slicer/wedger/piercer. In fact, when it came in the mail I was quite perplexed. I guess while binging on cooking shows I decided, in the middle of the night, to buy this contraption. It does what it says it will do. I now have the ability to slice eggs and mushrooms into slices and wedges. Granted I could do this before with a knife. BUT NOW.....I can do it with this thingie and it will be more uniform. No more will my salads have misshapen egg or mushroom slices, which, has now saved me from being ostracized from the lunch room. I can also pierce an egg if I need to. I haven't needed to, but I could if I wanted to. As for cleaning, I throw it into the top rack of the dishwasher (not sure if I'm supposed to, but I'm a rebel like that). If you want perfect wedged/sliced soft items like mushrooms, eggs, a small piece of banana, or kiwi I am sure you can shove them in there and use this, or your knife. Whatever. I don't know what I was thinking when I bought it, and I guess I'll keep it for now.

I have a single egg piercer which is just about ready to die, have another that is with a regular egg slicer, and now this one. I really like this one because it is very sturdy, has 2 diff cutting choices and the piercer. I think I'll give the slicer/piercer to a neighbor who could use it, throw away the old single piercer, and just keep and use this one.

I use this handy item almost every day for slicing eggs and now I can do it for salads too. PLEASE watch the little pin in the front, if it's not locked in place - you get a quick bleeding finger as a reminder that it's there. Couldn't beat the price, it arrived quickly, and has held up much better than another one that I paid more for and only sliced one way. I love the option to use the decorating tool, makes me look like a pro. Haven't tried it on strawberries or mushrooms yet, but fun to have the option. I should probably say "easy to use", but DUH! You lift the wire up, you put the wire down. Easy. I love it.

I bought this a while ago. I’ve found it’s very awkward trying to slice eggs and keep the wedger wires from flipping around. I wouldn’t waste my time or money on this if I’d known.

I purchased this primarily as an egg piercer and as such, it does a perfect job, I haven't had an egg crack when boiling since I started using it. However, the fun part of the tool is the fancy cutter side. It works and makes very attractive hard boiled egg halves to dress up a salad or to make even fancier deviled eggs. I haven't used the slicer yet, but I'm sure that it works just fine. I try to keep my kitchen gadgets to a minimum, but this is one that I will continue to use.
