The extra buttons make it useful for gaming, a nice plus. It feels like a good quality device for $10. It replaces a cheap wireless Verbatim mouse that worked well enough but for some reason eats batteries. One of the reasons I went with a wired this time is because I will never have to worry about changing out mouse batteries again (which isn't a major life problem, but it is also a problem that this mouse solved). One alternative is the desertcart Basics mouse. That is a no frills device that works well for any work computer. I can't stop laughing** A: Wired **Q: Why does it have a low battery indicator?** A: I checked the SKU # on the mouse that I bought and it is the same as on the current one for sale. I can only guess that Tecknet uses the same mouse for a wireless model that would be equipped with a low battery light.
