I hate wires. *by A***V on November 25, 2014* If you are reading this, you already know Ooma is a great alternative to paying high prices for phone service. If you take their basic plan, your only monthly bill is just the taxes required by law, which in New York is about $3.50 per month. Compare that to nearly $80 per month for Verizon home service.As a bonus, if you pay for their "Premium" service, you get some extras, including the ability to block telemarketers who are on their community blacklist... and create your own blacklist. Basically what that means is whenever you get a call from somebody you don't want to hear from, you add them to your own blacklist and they never call again. When enough people block a caller, they go into the community blacklist, so anyone who turns on community blacklist is automatically filtered out. The result... a lot less calls while you ear dinner.As for this particular Wireless Adapter, I love it. I had the Ooma on my desk because it was close to my router, but now I can put it anywhere in my house. That's easily worth the extra $50. It also adds Bluetooth, which lets you pair it with your cell phone and pick up calls on your house handset. Since there are 5 cell phones in my house, I'm not using that feature, because it would confuse other family members who would end up answering my private line. For those with only one cell phone, it sounds like a nice way to let you keep your cell phone on the charger and answer from a regular phone. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Wow, so easy to setup! *by D***R on March 13, 2023* I have used Ooma for many years now and love the service. Recently I switched to a wireless router, not even considering the effect it would have on my Ooma router. Holy cow, what do I do now? There was no connection for it. The only route open was converting the Ooma router to wireless. Wow, wouldn't you know it? Amazon carried the dongle that would take care of the problem. A quick connection to the internet and, wam bang, it is up! Running and the connection is even better than before. ### ⭐ Very poor signal quality makes this thing unusable. *by G***. on November 13, 2017* As other reviewers have noted, this thing has zero wifi range. I have it within 10 feet of my router, with clear line of site, and the signal is terrible. I get dial tone, however, call quality is very random. I haven’t had any calls completely drop yet and the call sometimes sounds fine for a minute or two but it will eventually degrade to a point where it is impossible to carry on a conversation. I have had Ooma for years and I have loved their service. Super call quality and incredibly reliable service. It is amazing that a company that has mastered Internet phone service technology is not able to produce even a somewhat reliable wifi solution.I’ve seen a number of reviewers state that their wifi adapters fell apart while attempting to install them. I did not have that issue. A number of reviewers also noted how cumbersome the process was to get this thing installed. I can definitely concur with that! I’ve been in IT all my life however it took me over 30 mins to get this thing installed and working.
