## Description

It can be said some bands truly embody a certain spirit or emotion. Without a doubt, Massachusetts long running chuggernauts, The Acacia Strain, truly embody anger. And that shows more than ever on their new full-length, Wormwood. The band s sound and vibe are more ferocious then ever on this, their fourth full-length for Prosthetic Records and fifth overall.Even the success of their previous full-length, Continent , which debuted at #2 on Billboard s Heatseekers chart in 2008 and their DVD, The Most Known Unknown , which debuted at #10 on Billboard s Top Video Sales Chart in early 2009, has not assuaged front man and lyricist Vincent Bennett s turmoil. For Wormwood , the band returned to the scene of the creation of Continent , producer Zeuss Planet Z Studio in Hadley, MA where he s previously worked with the likes of label mates All That Remains, Hatebreed, The Red Chord, and more, where he engineered, mixed and mastered the slab of vitriol. This time around, we find guitarist D.L. experimenting with 8 string guitars, adding further depth and low end to the band s already stomach turning low end sound. The band will be appearing on this summer s inaugural Cool Tour with As I Lay Dying, Underoath, Between the Buried and Me, Blessthefall, Architects, Cancer Bats and War of Ages. The band s extensive tour history has seen them on the road with acts such as Underoath, Bleeding Through, Killswitch Engage, Despised Icon and August Burns Red among many more and appeared on The Sounds of the Underground Tour, as well.

    Another excellent Acacia album

*by A***H on Reviewed in the United States on January 29, 2017*

Well I personally enjoyed this album.I got into Acacia when I heard The Brown Noise from 3750,and being a fan of South Park since it's its inception in 97 I knew right away that this band was not just heavy, but had a unique sense of humor. So I went ahead and grabbed all their cds, this was right about the time that Wormwood was released. I had a copy but idk where it went,so i just got another copy. Anyways,to the album, this baby is filled with downtuned guitar and heavy hitting drum and bass.Very chunky audible bass and great chugging guitar with nice solid hooks. Vince has again put out some vicious, gun in mouth songs to soundtrack a violent massacre. The songs are all around 3- 4 minutes each, with Tactical Nuke as an instrumental closer. There are always good songs & great songs, don't get me wrong the whole album is dope and 47 minutes long,so you get a heavy slab of heavy music. The standout,or favorite tracks(I'm my opinion) are Jonestown,The Carpathian,Terminated,Nightman,The Impaled & Bay of Pigs. Not saying the others aren't dope, but those are my absolute favorites. Excellent vocal work, right lyrical content & as a new addition some 7 string guitar work for added deep churning guitar. All in all of you know TAX or are looking to get into a new band, then this is the Acacia album to get. Also check out 3750,The Dead Walk and Continent. Give it a spin & enjoy.

    As We Drown In Doom

*by M***N on Reviewed in the United States on November 12, 2019*

Hands down, 100%, without a doubt my favorite TAS album. This album is a misanthropic, nihilistic, nasty, down-tuned, hate filled, anger fueled, heavy, heavy, heavy, masterpiece. Did I mention it was heavy? It came out almost a decade ago and will hold up forever. I was fortunate enough to get this ordered before the last of the Prosthetic splatter series were all sold out. Limited run of 250. Aqua and red splatter on light blue. WE ARE THE REASON THERE IS BLOOD ON THE GROUND!

    Bay of Pigs

*by P***S on Reviewed in the United States on March 21, 2016*

The night I first listened to this album, I had to pause it around the 35-second mark. That's a handful of seconds into the intro to the first track, The Beast. I could already sense the heaviness that awaited within. It continues to be one of my all-time favorite records, and deserves as much praise at it can receive. This IS my favorite TAS album, and I own each one. The Dead Walk took the title before I heard this. It's now second.
