I used some to fill a hole to change out hardware and need to cover the putty to make the old holes less?** A: It would soak in and color the putty. However if it's a large area your covering keep in mind the stain is see through so there would be no wood grain where the putty is therefore may be seen. It's great for a small area though. **Q: Does this contain a sealant or is it just the stain?** A: No it is just "stain", it sucks. **Q: Is this skin staining??** A: I use this to retouch chip on my table.. once it gets thoroughly dry I don't think it transfer to skin . If you accidentally touch it while wet it might transfer to skin but easily removable by soap & water. **Q: How well does this product work ?** A: We have leather furnitures and also one cat with claws... Sometimes the claws scratch the leather. We use the "pen" to cover the scratch and before it is completely dry, we use a rag to do a light scrub over the scratch. Also, we have Brazil Cherry hardwood floor and it's softer than we anticipated. Some shoes, some dropped items, and some other things can scratch the floor. Again, we fill the scratches with the "pen" and before it's dried to use a rag to a light scrub to remove the excess "pen" amount. We done this for seven years and the scratches are no longer seen each time! We did purchase a couple of different colors to work on our items.
