Both need to be easily accessible in case of emergencies, but I didn’t want to just leave holes in the wall. Only other types of covers I’ve seen at the big box hardware stores are either panels that needs to be screwed in place (which would take too long to remove in an emergency) or plates held in place by magnets which look nice but are too costly for the given application. The swing open door is a little flimsy and can come off fairly easily but frankly I don’t ever expect to be using it regularly. It’s only ever going to get used in case of emergency (hopefully never!).
