Most of these types of books are pretty useless. DeWalt however has done a great job pulling the IRC together in a way any building pro can understand, with well organized excerpts from the IRC, relevant photos/diagrams, and a succinct explanation of what you need to know especially concerning the many oddball exceptions that even code enforcement folks often get wrong. I am not an experienced builder, so bought this book to help me evaluate the quotes I received received from contractors for a major home improvement project. Over all, this book is a good value for the money and a handy reference for do-it-yourself home owner or an owner evaluating contracts for home improvements.

Perfect Companion to the IRC. BUY IT!
I subscribe to the actual codes online at the ICC, but the site (and the code) is difficult to navigate and often requires interpretation and cross-referencing various sections, tables, etc. Honestly I purchased this book on a whim and was not expecting much. Most of these types of books are pretty useless. DeWalt however has done a great job pulling the IRC together in a way any building pro can understand, with well organized excerpts from the IRC, relevant photos/diagrams, and a succinct explanation of what you need to know especially concerning the many oddball exceptions that even code enforcement folks often get wrong. Just buy it you’ll thank me.

Good information for home owners
This text was prepared by DeWalt and Cengage. The collaboration results in a very readable text with excellent illustrations. I am not an experienced builder, so bought this book to help me evaluate the quotes I received received from contractors for a major home improvement project. Reading this book alone may not make you a journeyman trade person, but the book will help you stay on track to do a project correctly, or to get a sense whether work you contract out is of good quality. Over all, this book is a good value for the money and a handy reference for do-it-yourself home owner or an owner evaluating contracts for home improvements.

DeWalt Residential Code Book Review
This edition edition of residential codes has plenty of needed information! 10/10 Would recommend though codes are updated every X amount of year(s).

Good for beginners
Great pictures, explanations and whatever might be needed for a beginner. Also explains certain aspects of the code should there be a difference of opinion between two carpenters. I want something more code intensive with fewer drawings. More code bookish than a "How to" manual is what I was expecting/hoping for.. It is well done and I'd have no problem giving this to a young man starting out in construction, but for an old timer who wants the code book, compact and precise, this ain't that.

An index is needed
The contents is OK but an index is needed. I guess I am going to have to read every word to find panel bonding requirements

Muy buena referencia
Libro de dewalt publicado por Cengage (gran editorial) 342p sobre códigos de construcción (USA) residencial divididos en refrigeración, fontanería, instalaciones eléctricas y construcción en madera. La verdad es que está muy bien para tener una referencia de todo en el mismo libro. Está claro que no ahonda mucho en cada campo, porque no hay para más. Pero creo que si no se es profesional de todos los campos, la lectura del libro es un punto de inflexión muy bueno a la hora de intentar diseñar o comprender lo que ya está hecho. Buen trabajo.
