Excellent choice for increasing disk capacity
For commercial video editing purposes, I purchased a Dell workstation with 4 internal drives, running on an integral 3gb/s controller. I soon found the factory disk configuration lacking. I wanted SAS extensibility, 6gb/s SATA II, the increased speed and redundancy of RAID 10, and I wanted more drives. This RAID-on-a-chip (ROC) adapter is perfect for my needs. Externally, I paired it with a Sans Digital 8-bay Mobile RAID enclosure with a built in SAS extender. If you need more storage than this, LSI offers cards with more external ports.
