Quality product
I’m extremely happy with the Victoria 8-Inch Cast Iron Tortilla Press. This thing is built like a tank—very solid, heavy-duty, and clearly made to last a lifetime. You can immediately feel the quality as soon as you take it out of the box. It presses tortillas evenly and effortlessly, making the whole process quick and enjoyable. I’ve used it multiple times already, and it performs consistently every time. It’s also versatile—I’ve used it for more than just tortillas, and it handles everything with ease. If you’re looking for a durable, well-made tortilla press that you’ll be able to use for years, this is definitely worth it. Highly recommend!

Great Tortilla Press and more!
I’ve been using this cast iron tortilla press regularly for the past few weeks, and it’s made homemade tortillas so much easier and more consistent than pressing them by hand. What I like: Heavy, sturdy build: The cast iron feels solid and durable — no flimsy parts. Consistent results: I get evenly shaped, evenly thick tortillas every time, which makes cooking way less frustrating. Easy to use: Just place the dough ball, press down, and rotate — simple and quick. Multi-use: I’ve even used it for small flatbreads and wraps with great results. One thing to note is that the press is heavier than I expected, so I store it on a lower shelf. But that weight is really what gives it such great pressing power. Overall, this cast iron tortilla press has been worth it. If you like making your own tortillas — especially regularly — this is a tool that will make the process smoother and faster. Highly recommend!

Excellent quality and very sturdy.
Excellent product. It’s very sturdy and well-made, and you can tell the quality right away. It presses tortillas evenly and is easy to use and clean. I’ve used it multiple times and it still looks great. Definitely a reliable tool to have in the kitchen. Worth it.

Pricey, but it’s the Cadillac of tortilla presses
This thing is a beast @ 8lbs. Unfortunately, Victoria doesn’t make an aluminum model in 8”. If they did, I’d have bought that instead for the weight reduction. If you want something super heavy, you’ll love it. Some reviewers have complained about failing handles. Mine seems very solid, and I press my tortillas out very thin and with guy gusto. No problems here. Pro: 8” surface area comes in VERY handy if you want to make tortillas large enough for enchiladas, large tacos, etc. NOTE: even when pressed to 8”, tortillas will shrink to approx. 7.5” during cooking. Pro: This press is ‘pre-seasoned’, similar to many of the Lodge products these days. Pro: Excellent build quality. Smooth ease of motion, and effectively indestructible. Pro: It comes with an extra handle pin and cotter pin. Secure these to the bottom of the press with a drop of silicone, (there is a recess where they fit perfectly), and you can forget about these until you ever need them. Which you probably won’t. Pro: Free shipping on such a heavy item makes up for the high price. Con: Unnecessarily heavy, over-engineered. Con: Probably the most expensive 8" press available now that both the IMUSA 85008 and Rick Bayless’s Victoria-clone have gone out of production. It’s easy to get spoiled from eating only the freshest, hot corn tortillas. This is one of life’s great simple pleasures. And yet it’s so easy to make tortillas better than any you’ve ever had in a restaurant, and to make each one perfectly round, with even thickness, and uniform in size. Make them for your guests, and you may as well have grown the corn too, for all the gratitude and amazement they will shower you with. If you REALLY want to blow them away, source 'Maseca Nixtamasa Corn Masa Flour', (see pic). The corn flavor of this variety is akin to regular Maseca x10. You’ll never bother with fresh masa again. Maseca Nixtamasa Corn Masa Flour 4.4 Lb (Pack of 2) If you make tortillas on a regular basis and somehow managed to limp along without a mechanical press, this is going to seem like your first cell phone; you immediately won’t be able to imagine life without it. As for this press in particular, it’s a bit pricey, but the quality is there. This is one of those products that you need to buy only once every generation or two, until it gets handed down to a younger family, or inherited. In either case, it will leave this world long after you do.

Excellent tortilla press (8") -- heavy & durable cast iron (requires a bit of TLC) + easy to use...
This is an excellent tortilla press. I had a heavy, cast aluminum one many years ago and it worked great but somehow ended up getting lost in our many moves and I never replaced it. Over the last year or so, I've been looking at various types of presses from different brands. The aluminum ones I have seen are nothing like my original one, so I decided to focus on the wooden and cast iron versions. I have a lot of cast iron cookware and I use it all of the time -- I find it incredibly easy to use and very durable. So when this 8" version became available, I was very interested. I chose this one over the pricer HD version in the same size, and this one is definitely sturdy enough for my use. Some reviews mention a handle that is plastic rather than cast iron, but the press I received is 100% cast iron and very well made. My favorite brand of cast iron (the iconic USA manufacturer) doesn't make a tortilla press and I have noticed that some imported cast iron cookware is not as heavy and often has unfinished areas and large pores, but this brand is of very high quality. I already have a dutch oven made by Victoria (imported from Colombia) so I was sure this would also be top-notch. And it is. Since it is cast iron, it will need a bit of extra care to prevent rusting so if you are not familiar with seasoning cast iron, be sure to do a bit of research before ordering. The press is heavy, smooth and pre-seasoned and turns out perfect medium-sized corn tortillas (I roll flour tortillas) that are then cooked on a comal/griddle on the stove top. The lettering is very crisply rendered. There is a smaller 6 1/2" as well as a larger 10" version, but this 8" model is just the right size for my family. The hinge pins and especially the cotter pins don't seem particularly robust, but they are holding up well so far + they can easily be replaced if needed -- they are inexpensive and readily available at a hardware store. I think this tortilla press is well worth the modest cost.

I’d give this press 6 stars if I could. Casting is rugged and flawless. Very well seasoned. Made 16 5” tortillas in no time. The key is to use two cast iron fry pans. One on medium, the finishing one a little hotter than medium. Preheat. Use no oil. I also use two separate uncut zip lock bags. Make your dough using directions on Masa Harina bag. Roll a ball of masa harina about the size of a golf ball. Flatten slightly with your palm. Place on press covered with zip lock bag. Then place other zip lock bag on top of ball. Close lid and press lightly with lever. No need to press hard. End result is a 1/8” thick approx 5” diameter tortilla. Lift top zip lock plastic carefully then slide lower zip lock onto your palm. Tortilla peels off easily. Then into first pan. 15 seconds.Flip after 15 seconds onto second side for another 15 seconds. Then transfer onto the second hotter pan for 30-45 seconds. It will puff up. Then remove. Meantime prep another ball of dough onto press and have it ready for the transfers.Beautifully easy. You will be able to keep the assembly line rhythm once you get the hang of it. So easy and seamless. I found using a complete zip lock bag for each side makes it easier to make and peel off the tortilla. I suspect the double layer of plastic allows for movement without pinching the tortilla. Very pleased with this purchase. It’s a lifetime purchase and next I will try white and whole wheat tortillas. Washed complete press in very hot water and dried it off. Noted the beading of water on every part of this very well seasoned press. All edges nicely rounded and finished. Beautiful casting. I love cast iron cookware and have very fine and some very expensive pieces. This one is definitely a keeper. This press I will experiment with drying flowers and stems. One or two layers. Cover each side with heavy plastic so no moisture rusts the press. Lock lever with an appropriate weight.
