You need to be a professional to be able to use this scissor and I am not. I will stay with a straight scissor to groom my Portuguese water dog.

I have long haired breed dogs. They have a double coat that is supposed to shed dirt and even burs pretty easily. However, some breeders have not paid attention to a correct coat texture and I ended up with a dog that had such a soft and coat that when it rains he develops dread locks on his tail, under belly, and back of legs. Not to mention the mat behind the ears and in his front feathering. These thinning scissors have been a god send. They are sharper than the current pair I have, and seem to cut better patches without as much notability. I don't show him so am not that concerned, but when I take him out I am not getting questions about his coat and he seems happier not dealing with the dread locks he gets. These have come in hand for my long haired cat that got into burs this year. I will be getting another pair.

These scissors are sharp and cut/chunk exactly as anticipated. However, I find that they are not very "smooth." Instead, they tend to get stuck at the pivot and this makes it difficult to keep the cut smooth, precise, and fast. I have a standard poodle, so using hand scissors is just a part of our lives. Overall, they DO work at intended, but if they didn't have a "quality" problem, I think they would be better.

JJ, my Malti-Poo's hair tends to grow quickly and sometimes unevenly. I needed a pair of scissors so that I could groom him in between professional groomings. These are great for quick touchups (and even more thorough grooming if you have the shills). They are sharp and come in a very nice case - great for gifting. One thing though, (I guess I have chubby fingers) ... I find that the finger holes on the scissors to be a little small for my fingers. Other than that, these are grooming shears.

I am only someone who grooms my dog myself. My opinion is that of someone who is a beginner in terms of grooming, I've been doing it for almost 2 years now. Things I can say with certainty: These scissors are heavy, substantial, very sharp. They have come in handy for me when trying to blend any harsh lines and to shape around the head and face and legs. These scissors came in a very big wood case, which is nice albeit a bit bulky. These are heavy in hand but the grip is comfortable. I'm quite sure I need to work on my technique but these scissors are more high quality than others I've purchased for home use, and I'm quite pleased with the results!

We have several large golden retrievers and it takes a lot of work to thin out their manes a bit during the summer. These chunkers work great and the segmented teeth work great to cut the heavy fur without getting bogged down. They also come in a really nice bamboo box. They aren't cheap, but they work really well.
