## Description

Discover never-before-seen Apollo mission photos capturing the adventure, courage, and groundbreaking accomplishments of NASA's historic journey to the moon.

Review: Beautiful book for the Apollo nerd - I grew up when Apollo was the happening thing. I'm still amazed by it. I'm also really interested in the photographic side of what they did, recording their exploits. This book is a must have for anyone who's into that. Not only does this book show the pictures in beautiful resolution but it includes neat summaries of each mission and the astronauts involved but as a massive bonus there's a wonderful section all about the camera equipment they used. I think that this is one of those books that, when it goes out of print will be worth a fortune but I'll never let mine go.
Review: This is a hugely impressive book - As you would expect when you open the book there is a wonderful series of images from Apollo 7 to 17. But that is not all, and my advice to anyone who wishes to get the best out of this book is to then read the short introduction by astronaut Walter Cunningham and the last section entitled 'Behind the Photographs'. Without becoming too technical the authors have succinctly conveyed the evolution of space photography and also the sheer challenge of taking images when wearing a space suit and helmet. It is easy to take these images for granted but when you learn that conventional lubrication within the camera would boil on the moon's surface you begin to appreciate the camera innovation that accompanied space exploration. Returning to the images I would say they all have their place. Dare I use the word mundane in the context, but the image of space suits stacked within the craft is somehow a real sense of living in such a cramped space in contrast to the glamour of EVA. The explanatory text is economical but well written. Re-reading the intro and the last section has become part of the pleasure of this wonderful book. I can only say well done to all involved in bringing this to publication. And finally the short transcript of the radio conversation between the Apollo 11 crew and Mission Control in regard of advice on what camera and aperture should be used to take an image of the Sun's corona coming from behind the Moon encapsulates everything about this impressive book.
