I purchased a used DELL OptiPlex 3020 SFF Desktop PC as a retired office computer for a family member to handle basic tasks like checking emails, browsing social media, and watching online videos. Overall, it’s been a reliable choice for the price, but it’s not without a few quirks. The OptiPlex 3020 is a compact, no-frills machine that fits perfectly in a small home setup. Its performance is more than adequate for lightweight tasks—emails load quickly, social media scrolling is smooth, and streaming videos on platforms like YouTube or Netflix works well without buffering (assuming a decent internet connection). The small form factor is a big plus, as it doesn’t take up much space on the desk, and it runs quietly, which is great for a shared living space. Since it was a used office PC, it came with a clean Windows install, and setup was straightforward. The system handles basic multitasking fine, like having a browser with a few tabs open while streaming music or videos. The included ports (USB, HDMI, VGA) made it easy to connect to a monitor and peripherals, which was a relief for a non-tech-savvy family member. However, there are a couple of reasons it’s not a 5-star purchase. Being a used unit, the exterior had some minor scuffs and wear, which isn’t a dealbreaker but worth noting. More importantly, it can feel sluggish if too many browser tabs or apps are open at once, especially with heavier websites. The lack of modern upgrades like an SSD (mine came with an HDD) means boot times and app loading can be a bit slow, though this is expected for an older, budget-friendly machine. For a refurbished office PC, the DELL OptiPlex 3020 SFF does exactly what we need for basic family use. It’s a cost-effective option for email, social media, and video streaming, but don’t expect it to handle anything beyond light tasks. If you’re looking for an affordable, dependable desktop for simple needs, this is a great pick—just consider upgrading to an SSD for a smoother experience!

Works great,delivered a week ahead of schedule

The Dell OptiPlex 3020 is not officially supported for Windows 11 by Dell or Microsoft. It lacks a supported 8th Gen+ CPU and TPM 2.0 (only 1.2), causing strict requirement failures. However, it can run Windows 11 via manual, unsupported workarounds (e.g., Rufus or registry hacks) to bypass restrictions.

I bought 2 of these; mine & 1 for my daughter. Fast even for games, business and social media browsing

When reading other reviews for refurbished computers I had set my expectations somewhat low on what exactly I would receive. However, I was very pleasantly surprised by this computer. The computer itself is in very good condition with no marks or blemishes. I took the side panel off to see the condition of the interior and it was dust free and in excellent condition. I checked the system specs and everything matched what I had ordered. The mouse and keyboard appear to be brand new, are inexpensive models, and match the system well in terms of quality and looks. I tested all the hardware and everything worked as expected. Windows 10 enabled without a hitch. The system itself runs cool and quiet. The only item that surprised me somewhat was the "WiFi". This was not built into the system, instead it came as a separate dongle that is about the size of the tip of my thumb. It plugs into one of the USB ports and seemed to work okay. In the end we chose not to use the WiFi dongle as there is a Ethernet connection near the system and prefer the higher speeds of a wired connection. All in all, a very good value.

For the value of a used computer it isn't bad. but you can't expect everything it'll work well. a few things that I dislike which is the microphone jack infront of the modem and that is a concern, when you plug-in your stereo cord into the jack it won't hold tight its loosen its annoying it messed up the sound. instead of using the mic jack in the front, they should've used the back of the modem just like the built of inspiron the plug-in into the stereo jack it's on the back of the motherboard.
