You must attach in the correct order
There were no Instructions and it was frustrating, plus I thought it was defective because the final section wouldn't close. THEN I figured it out! Here's the trick = 1. Set Aside the 1 link that has the metal button on the end 2. Attach all the other links and twist them to lock them in place (You undo them the same way in reverse) 3. To close the loop Attach the final link plastic side 1st And finally on the other end push the button in and put it together with the Last link til it clicks. Then you're done! ( if you need to remove the last link Gently roll back the foam cover 2 inches just to expose the button, then push The botton In all the way and separate. Then roll the foam back) There you have it! It's sturdy and really Great!

Hard to assemble, not for beginners, and seller is not consumer friendly--Updated
This hoop was very confusing to put together. The vague directions are placed on the box in a place that I would have never seen if I hadn't read another review. I had put the hoop together by color, but it was still backwards. By the time I finally took it apart and tried using the opposite ends together (which worked), I was mad. Can't you put some kind of marking or diagram that shows which piece goes into which end of the other piece? Putting the hoop together robbed me of my joy and anticipation of getting the hoop. Once I started hooping, the hoop kept riding up to my breasts (super ouch!). I'm a beginner. I never even hula hooped when I was a kid. This heavy thing is hard to keep up and it keeps going upwards to my breasts -- which I can't imagine is healthy. I'm a prime member. I'm used to getting my products sent to me free with my membership. Not this item. I paid premium money to have it shipped to me. I feel that this product is marketed poorly to beginners. I don't think it's for beginners. I followed the instructions for choosing which one is best for me -- this heavy thing I don't believe is. And no returns?! Wow -- this seller is not consumer friendly. I was so excited about getting this hoop. Now, I'm disappointed and ticked. Update: I've updated my review from one star to five stars. I was really ticked off trying to put this together with so few directions. It also was very hard to hoop in the beginning. I have always been athletic, so I'm still not sure if this is a good choice for beginners. Anyhow, it really is a good workout for the torso. I was seeking something inexpensive and simple (compared to heavy machines on the market) that would help me to work on the midsection. I sit all day with my job. I was also seeking something that might be a little bit fun (exercise can be boring). Once I got the hang of it, I really started to use it and it really does work the torso. I find it best to do outside because it is a huge hula hoop (but, I have a small house). Go to YouTube and get some advice from people who are experts. They will give you techniques for hula hooping. For me to change my rating from a one to a five is a big deal. Once past the frustration, I have found this to be an excellent, inexpensive and fun workout for the body's trunk. There are other stretching exercises that you can do with the hoop besides just hooping. Go to YouTube and check out all the fun exercises that you can do with a hula hoop. Then, customize them to suit your needs.

Holy Mac: this is turning out to be a real workout!
Many moons ago, I used to exercise with the old traditional hoop, remember the ones that was a single plastic hoop. And i could vouch then that it was great at loosing inches around my waist along with other aerobic exercises. Now, the waist line has expanded again and i was in search of the hoop. This one is a new funky version of yester years and it is weighted with ridges. I was a little daunted when it arrived and when assembled, it was heavier than I thought. It took a few minutes to get back into the rhythm and I can see that this new hoop will loose the inches FAST! Also, it helps to massage the stomach area, which is great for digestive issues.. Loose weight and do some yoga-like massages all in one. I concur that until you get to it, the ridges do cause some initial discomfort. It will be worth it! Easy to assemble, not so easy to dissembles, though. This is definitely an exercise in itself, as I worked up a sweat after five minutes of continuous use. The box comes with instructions for assemble, for beginners and limiting use to maximum of 10minutes twice a day that you work up over a period of three weeks. Yes, bruising can occur if over used and from initial use due to the weighted feature. Do not use if you are pregnant.

Fun BUT need patience to assemble and use
It took a few tries to get the hoop assembled, particularly the last connection. When I first started using it, I couldn't keep it going for more than a few rotations but I kept trying every day 2-3 times. Unlike others, I did not have problems with bruising. After the first week, I started to feel different (tighter) in my mid section. One day, I practiced making the movement without the hoop and that helped me make the final connection to keep the hoop up. without the hoop, I could actually feel the right muscles moving. The final step was to add the hoop and close my eyes and visualize as I hooped. Now I am able to keep it going. When you do it right, it is a challenging workout. 3lbs is fine; I think 5lbs would be too much. I am enjoying it very much. What I also like is that I can pick it up and do it for a few minutes. I highly recommend stretching afterward.

Good quality pain at first
I received it today! It definitely hurts for me while using it, but I feel so good afterwards. It didn’t hurt my husband at all, so I guess it really depends on your body structure. I can’t wait to see the results — so far, I like it! ✨

Really is a great work out!
I really like this. I know some complained about the lack of direction with assembly, but I had no issues and just followed the pattern on the box, connecting the latched pieces last. I have not tried to take it apart, but assembly was fine. People also complained about the texture on the inside of the hoop. I did feel the ridges a little the first couple times I used it, but I didn’t find it painful or even close to being a deterrent to using the hoop. After using it just a few days a week, over a few weeks, I dont even notice the ridges. I’m guessing the discomfort is due to poor tone of the abdominal muscles and for most the discomfort will subside with conditioning of the muscle. At this time i haven’t lost weight but I have noticed my pants are looser than they were before. Definitely a nice perk from 5 or 10 minutes of hula hooping a few days a week.

Couldn't get the hoop parts to latch
I was not able to get the final hoop section to latch. The packaging did not include any instructions on how to put the hoop together and most importantly how to latch the final section. There final piece had a metal thingy that needed to catch on something in the opposing piece where a small sign "push here" was but it wasn't like the metal piece had a spring. I know it's not rocket science but without instructions it's a guessing game and just not worth it. In addition, there were other instructions printed on the outside of the box for how to use the hoop which were covered up by the mailing tags so couldn't be read (tags could not be removed without damaging the packaging). Again, these instructions were not included inside. For the price, totally worthless. Shipping back today.

Very satisfied!
I just love this hoop, the first few days may be a bit painful but once the muscles get use to it then you will be fine! I have had no problems with it coming apart and I use it 3 x a day 20 minutes ( they must have fixed this problem). I feel like my back and my abs are firmer. I am 50 and feel that I am getting a good work out! Love it!
