Works very well, seems to be highly accurate, and is both compact and very economic.
Ok, the darn little thing just plain works and at this cost, it's a huge benefit to have around the lab. We tested in on a range of calibrated weights and were pleasantly surprised to find it accurate to 2 digits in most cases and extremely repeatable. You have to mess around a little with the display units, but that's a minor gripe considering the price and compactness of the unit. Still going strong after a few months of fairly active usage. I'd definitely buy this one again.

The useless HOLD feature, The Voyage Home.
THE VOYAGE HOME: I sent email to the company, Georgia-based American Weigh Scales. Apparently they have revised this scale since I purchased my copy and the switch inside the battery compartment does indeed turn off the HOLD feature if you would like to see a continuous readout. A very helpful account manager named Kevin agreed to replace my old scale with the new version. Now I have a useful scale. Thanks Kevin! Latest product manual is here (v3.0): www[dot]awscales[dot]com/hanging-scales/159-sr-20-digital-hanging-scale PART 3: I can hardly believe that I have to do this AGAIN! I must revise my review. The suggestion by SaraPap worked for quite a long time, my scale appeared to be reborn. I flipped the switch inside the battery compartment and the hold feature was defeated. But recently, when the batteries died and I replaced with fresh cells, the hold feature returned. At that time I was reminded of the true purpose for the little black switch inside the battery compartment-CALIBRATION. Switch "up", power "on" and the scale enters calibration mode. See your manual, or this page: www[dot]americanweigh[dot]com/images/PDF/SR-Series_manual[dot]pdf Switch "down" power "on" and the scale is in weighing mode, with the useless HOLD feature! I fiddled endlessly, now the HOLD feature will not go away! Furthermore, the manual states that this model, the SR-5, calibrates with a 1kg weight (not included). But, when I put the switch "up" and enter calibration mode, my scale asks for a 5kg calibration weight! Odd, since 5kg is the max capacity of the scale. Excess load on these sensors is likely to cause damage, so I was not in a hurry to hang 5kg of chickpeas on my scale, but after endless fiddling I saw no other choice. Eventually I calibrated the scale, and it seems to work fine, but that is all very odd. And, the useless HOLD feature is back. Maybe Harry Potter moved in next door. I am baffled. I should not have deleted the original review. (PART 1) As long as this scale has the HOLD feature permanently enabled, it is USELESS. You will likely get a different result every time you weigh the same object, unless you pay infinite attention, and resort to double and triple-checking every time. If the object takes a little fiddling to get it on the hook, you will likely find that the HOLD feature locks onto a weight before you even have the entire load suspended. I learned to carefully get a few weights, and then zero the scale, REMOVE the load and observe the NEGATIVE weight displayed, and somehow do an average to get a ballpark figure. GOOD LUCK! PART 2: I am revising my review based on a smart comment by sara pap, see below. Now I really like this scale! There IS a way to defeat the HOLD function! Excellent! Thanks a ton, sara pap! I have deleted all of my previous commentary so that no mistake can be made by future amazon shoppers. For the record, I could not figure out how to defeat the HOLD function. I contacted the manufacturer, and they didn't know either. Strange, the manufacturer was apparently not aware of the secret button. This is a great product. It's been reborn! Highly recommend!

It'll do
I bought this to measure out chicken feed. It works but I don't know which measurement it is in, Lbs or kG's. I'm assuming Lbs. The change units feature does not work.

Can't switch to grams. Frustrated.
We cannot switch this to metric mode despite following the instructions in the manual. We went to their website and double-checked their PDF manual, and we still can't get it to switch. Very frustrating.

Different firmware versions and manuals
Apparently I was sent an older model, as there are versions 3.0, 2.1, 2.0, and 1.0 of the product manual on the mfg website, I found the instructions to switch from Lb's, to Kg's that worked for mine in version 2.1 of the manual, and not 3.0. Thus I assume the one I just received is an older model with older firmware. Other then that, it works.

Great for peritoneal dialysis
If you tare the scale with the 2 liter bag used for manual exchanges, you get a nice readout of ml infused. Was very accurate and way easier to read than the spring scale they use

Accurate and Convenient
The scale has a HOLD feature that automatically stops the scale reading from changing when it has reached a steady measurement after 2 seconds. This can be handy. Also when you are wanting to continue reading and varying weight on the scale you can switch the HOLD feature off so the scale continues to vary as weight is adjusted. I have calibrated weights and the scale is spot on everytime. I love how the scale collapses and fits easily in your pocket.

Works great for measuring fluids administered to my cat
Cat's in renal failure and gets subcutaneous fluids daily. Using the lines provided on the LRS bags just isn't accurate enough. Using this scale I can measure precisely by weight and be confident she's getting the proper dose.

Good little scales.
Well made and very accurate up to its listed maximum capacity of 11.5 pounds. The scale is digital and increments in .01 of a pound so do not expect ounces unless you get out your calculator. NB Although this item is from the USA, their pounds are the same as UK pounds (unlike hundredweights or tons which are different)

easy to use and read
Works as expected, easy to use and read. I liked it and later bought the model SR-20 as well.

it's like a digital bathroom scale that takes a measurement then ...
doesn't provide realtime reading, it's like a digital bathroom scale that takes a measurement then locks the readout. this is fine for some applications but not for weighing something that is deliberately changing
