It meant so much to me, but over time it began to tarnish, but no amount of silver polish helped. I’d long ago given up and sadly placed the pendant in a jewelry box for memory sake. Recently I’d decided to see what it would cost to have it re-plated, and found this product. I took a gamble on this and WOW did it do wonders! My favorite piece is now restored, shiny as new. It does not work on cheap metals—tried it on an old costume jewelry piece and it actually removed silver coloring off of it. Seems to work well on copper though—worked wonders on a penny. The giveaway that it’s going to work is that the beige liquid will turn black, and start to thicken up—even dry a bit. There’s zero reaction on cheap metals, but on copper and brass I get an instant reaction. Doesn’t take much, a little goes a long way. I’ve now applied several layers to my pendant and have a lovely patina. Review: I can’t believe it - This WORKS. Definitely wear gloves, my finger are pretty stained, but it works well and very quickly! I saved some worn silver plated necklaces and a couple fashion rings I adored. You will need to dip it numerous times until you get the result you desire. I think you'll be very pleased. **Q: Will this work at all on steel?** A: Why would you use this on Sterling? Or steel for that matter. The vendor is clear the product only works on copper, bronze, brass and unpassivated nickel (i.e. nickel without corrosion protection). Sterling silver should only need polishing. Steel is an alloy of iron and carbon. While stainless steel adds a combination of chromium and nickel, I doubt there would be enough nickel for this process to work. Remember this is molecular bonding not electroplating. **Q: is this product kosher?** A: please don't try using this on anything meant for consumption of foods. just because it says non toxic doesn't mean it's safe. It says it contains an anti tarnish agent. the silver is also likely to come off later since the silver ions are not bonded to the base metal. **Q: Would this work on brass keys? I wouldn't want to get the key stuck in the key hole or damage it.** A: I do believe it would work on brass. I used it to coat the bottom of a pan without good results. It also did not work on my silver plated utensils.
