Cannot rate highly enough
I had a (sober) fall and ended up with a facial injury, the doctor at A&E who gave me the stiches recommended this to reduce any scarring, I bought the day after and used it religiously, I was amazed how quickly it sped up the healing process and please with the minimal scarring because of it, even when healed carry on using until all the tube has gone

Medi honey c section care
I used this after my c section to help the quicker healing process of my stitches, it was so easy to apply, kept my skin in good condition and prevented any oozing or my stitches coming undone, I placed it on with some gauze and it worked so so well, it was a bit sticky but it stopped my overhang sweating. I would say it was so useful, you only need a small amount the price is brilliant for what it does.

Heals wounds very effectively but very thick & sticky making it rather difficult to use.
I had a cyst which became infected and eventually burst. It was very painful and looked pretty horrendous. As we were in the middle of a pandemic I didn't want to bother my doctor unless I really needed to. As initial appointments were telephone only, this also seemed a bit of a waste of time. I really felt that a doctor would need to see this. In view of all this, I decided I would try to treat it myself, at least to begin with. I had heard that Manuka honey was good for treating wounds so I thought I would try this product. It worked really well. I changed the dressing on the wound every day and it really cleaned it out. Within about 5 - 7 days, the wound stopped leaking and started to heal up. A few weeks later I am now left with a noticeable red scar but it is flat and smooth and I am hoping that given time it will fade. However, I have to say that I found the gel quite difficult to work with. It was extremely thick and sticky and it could be difficult to get it to stay put when squeezed onto a dressing, especially as I was trying to avoid touching it with my fingers. The ingredients are listed as Manuka honey and natural gelling agents. I would query whether the gelling agents were necessary. I think they made it too thick and sticky. I would also question as to why no MGO rating was given for the honey used in the product. Manuka honey always comes with an MGO rating and the price varies considerably depending on the rating. Honey with a low rating is quite cheap, but honey with a high rating can be very expensive indeed. We are not told what grade of honey is used in this product. As it is expensive at £16.99 for a small tube, I think this information should be provided. I actually wondered if it would be cheaper and easier just to buy a small jar of Manuka honey and apply it directly to the wound. This would be less sticky and much easier to apply. I have since found another brand of medical grade honey - Activon - I found this much easier to apply as it was much thinner and less sticky. It was also much cheaper at only £4.99 although this was for a much smaller tube than the Comvita brand. Overall, however, I was impressed at how effective Manuka honey is at treating wounds and I would certainly use some form of Manuka honey again if I needed to.

Ideal for healing all manner of wounds
I've used medical honey before to help heal a surgical wound from abscess removal to great effect. I purchased this due to painful and itchy eczema in my ears that would not respond to anything. After a week of inserting into my ears at night, this honey has gone a long way in restoring my ears to normal. About the product: The honey is very thick and almost grainy. It has a strong, quite cloying smell that prevents me from using it on my face to heal acne. The applicator is wide - so you might struggle to insert the honey directly onto a wound or indeed, in your ear. It comes out in large blobs, so it's easy to dispense a little too much. The good thing about this is that it won't run off when you apply it to skin. To use the honey I squeeze a blob in my hand, and swirl it around with a cotton bud so that the heat of my hand melts it slightly. I then use the cotton bud to put the (now slightly runnier) honey around my ears. This method would also work to use the honey on wounds -but if you're very concerned about germs then consider not heating it in your bare hand unless it is exceptionally clean.

Good, but not magic
I've been plagued with a string of infected ingrown hairs over the last few months, which start out as little blisters and then turn into full-on infected ulcers that are several centimetres in size. After my 4th course of antibiotics to clear it up, I started looking for supplemental therapies to help stymie the effects of this latest battle with injection. That led to manuka honey, and this product in particular. I applied the cream for the first time on Monday (it's now Friday), to a blister that was in its early stages. Despite a thick application of the gel twice a day, the blister still grew into its usual monster by the next day. Along with a course of co-amoxiclav and heaping spoonfuls of UMF 15+ manuka several times per day, the ulcer is in retreat. Clearly, this gel alone wasn't sufficient to keep it at bay. So, I'd advise anyone using this product to be realistic about its effects. It's definitely not magic, and probably won't replace the need for antibiotics in instances where they're usually needed! I'm also disappointed that the strength isn't mentioned anywhere on the packaging. There's no UMF rating, or any indication of its methylglyoxal activity anywhere on the packaging. The official literature on the Comvita site says the MGO is over 355mg/KG, which would put this somewhere around 12+. But, without any official rating to compare it to, I'm not sure. Ideally for bacterial infections, I'd be hoping for 20+ (which would probably make this product a lot more expensive but potentially more effective, too.) Overall, this is a good gel to apply to a cut/minor injury and I would continue to use it, but only in conjunction with heavier-duty relief such as antibiotics when they're needed!

Wirkt in kurzer Zeit.
