Nice tires,
If you have a mountain bike and do most of your riding in the city, these are the tires to have. I recently purchased a Schwinn Protocol 1.0 through Amazon. The bike came with Kenda Kenetic Knobby Tires. I am sure that for someone that actually rides the bike on rough terrain, the stcok tires would be just fine. But for regular street and trail riding, the rolling resistance on the stock knobbies were too much. These Continentals were just what the doctor ordered!. What a huge difference. Smooth ride. Almost no rolling resistance. Immediately noticed and increase in speed and over all endurance. I would highly recommend this tire for anyone that has a Mountain Bike and does more Urban riding than rough terrain.

Good Solid Hybrid Tire
This is a review of the Continental Double Fighter II 26 x 1.9 tire purchased from Amazon. I bought these to replace WTB Moto Raptor cross country tires. The WTBs are good tires, just not for street use. I also tried the Kenda K838, but the sidewalls are very thin and the weight & tread of the tire made steering very sluggish. One of the Kendas was out of round, the quality control seems to be lacking. The Continental Double Fighter II tire seems just as tough as the WTB Moto Raptor, especially in the sidewalls. I live in an urban area with marginal roads, so tough tires are mandatory. I'm riding faster and in a lower gear, thanks to the Continentals. Steering feels light and responsive. These tires are made in India, if that's a factor in your purchase decision. The only reason I deducted one star is for the tread, which is thin relative to other street tires I've seen. Maybe it's high tech material, we'll see how long it lasts. I'll give an update after a couple of months. On one of the tires, one side of the tire had a perfect tread, the other half had defects, something happened in the molding process. I don't think it will cause any problems, possibly premature wear on that half of the tire. With my experience with the Kendas (bought from Amazon), I suspect that tire manufacturers or wholesalers may be sending less than first quality tires to Amazon. Check your tires carefully. ** Update ** A tiny piece of glass penetrated the tire, tire liner & tube (and I've only had the tires less than month). With a thicker tread, this wouldn't have happened. Otherwise still happy with the tires, no handling problems, although I haven't used them in wet weather yet. For urban areas, I'd recommend that people find a tire with a thicker tread. If you're in the burbs or on well-maintained bike paths, this tire should be fine. For those of you interested in the brand of tire liner: Stopflats 2. This company has a lifetime warranty on the liners, if you have a puncture flat, you send in the liner & tube for free replacements. Haven't take advantage of the warranty yet, will update & do a review on Stopflats 2 later.

Great commuter/tourer tire for almost all seasons
I needed some new tires for my commuter/tourer and after reading about different brands, price and option comparing, and reading about the original Double Fighters I settled on the DF2's, and am glad I have. I currently have about 500 miles on them since purchasing them including a full century ride. I needed something for my drop-bar conversion mountain bike that was street friendly, but would also handle gravel, dirt, or grass trails. I originally had some knobby Specialized tires on the bike when it was a straight bar mountain bike, but since I live in the Chicago area trails are scarce and I wanted to be able to ride the bike on the street and not have so much drag from the tires. The center profile is relatively smooth rolling, there is a slight buzz on smooth asphalt when moving about 12 MPH (19 KPH) but otherwise they are not noticed. I didn't even originally notice the buzz until I did some group rides with folks on skinny tired road bikes with slicks. The center tread profile also wicks water away when it is wet out, and so far the tires have been pretty puncture resistant after having ridden over some glass and debris on my commute that would have blown out a weaker tire. The older Specialize mountain bike tires I would get flats on all the time, and my old road bike had CST's on it that would flat or allow for a belt shift too easily as well. T The side profile works well in turns when wet at higher speeds as well as in "off-road" conditions. I have not taken these tires on a single track yet so I cannot comment on their ability to handle something like that, although I would feel comfortable running these completely off-road. The tires will work DECENT in snow, but I would suggest letting the air out and running with a wider footprint and to get the sides of the treads working too. I have ridden a few commuter trips in the snow covered streets and only slipped once due to ice and my inability to pay attention at times. However these are NOT a snow tire and I do NOT ride or recommend them as such; I go out on them after the plows have done their jobs on the roads. Granted it has only been 500 miles, but they have exceeded my expectations for a general all-around tire. They make for a very comfortable ride and great handling in dry and moderately wet conditions. They roll well and will handle speeds in excess of 25 MPH (40 KPH) with no vibration or handling issues. And so far have been wearing well, even with the rear tire having a few miles on a trainer at home about 100 on them there). I would and will buy these again when my current ones wear out.

Good tire.
I replaced my fat OEM knobbie mountain bike tires with these smaller cross section tires since I ride mostly on paved roads with some mild dirt paths. They ride quieter and faster than the knobbies. Obviously, the ride isn't as soft over rough pavement, but the faster ride is a good trade-off. The only question is longivity since these tires do not appear to have much tread depth. Other reviewers do not seem to have problem with this however.

Very Difficult to Install
The 'new' Doublefighter is inferior to the older version. Even using two tire levers, this tire was very difficult to install on the rim. I've installed untold numbers of bicycle tires, and this was absolutely the worst ever. Remember, this is not a folding tire, is narrow (1.9 inch), and the rubber compound is hard. 1 star = it's a tire and a disappointing one at that.

Ho acquistato n. 2 copertoni Continental double fighter II. Si tratta di un copertone di qualità media, utile per un ciclo urbano misto. Raccomandato per l'ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo.
