Is it normal for it to have a hum/buzzing noise when in Aux mode? Even with no cables attached except for being plugged into power and turned on.

This is normal. It's happening because the aux line is open and there is no signal going to the speakers. I had this issue when plugging in the RCA from my DAC into the speakers. Once my DAC was plugged in, the hum goes away. As long as there is a signal going through the RCA there will be no hum. If you don't have a DAC that can be on all the time then I would recommend using optical, coax, or bluetooth.

How much hiss comes out of the tweeter?
