(Written by an English speaking writer). The directions are clear, concise and the monitors are easy to set up and test. They come with batteries. I tested with a semi-damp paper towel prior to putting them in their final position and they alarmed (you can control the loudness - most other sensors you cannot) and sent an alert to my phone. They can sense if the liquid is coming from under the sensor or dripping on top of the sensor. I am very pleased with this product. As side note, you can purchase separately a device that can turn off the water in your house. I have them near toilets and near my water heater, laundry. Under sinks. where there are high pressure water lines.
