Review: Great box for the traveling coroner. - Are you a travelling coroner? A DBO (dead body outliner) or just want to tote a bunch of stuff when you travel? If so, this is a perfect trunk for doing it. I have been traveling with mine for a few months now and it is great. Super sturdy, rugid and easy to pack. My DBO practice dummy fits in it perfectly. When I am teaching a class in outlining, it is a simple matter to unpack, throw the dummy randomly on the floor, pull out the tape or chalk and start outlining. Classes are also impressed how easily the dummy goes back in the box. When I fly, the 1650 passes for a standard luggage even though it is 2 inches over the combined length x height x width measurements. It also has a super sturdy handle for rolling around in he airport, recessed wheels that the luggage handlers can't get hold of to rip off and is built like a tank. I highly recomend the Pelican 1650 for you travel needs. Ohhhhhh,,,,,,, It is also water tight if you happen to be that coroner I mentioned (make sure to flush it out regularly, especially if you want to haul just stuff later)

This thing is nice along with the inside lid mount panel I purchased I'm sure this thing will provide me with a long life of service. Quality material, nice design it's a Pelican so it's good to go.

**Q: I am looking at buying the 1650 pelican case! Is the foam as pictured or is it all there where I can make my own configuration?**
A: The 1650 comes with 4 pieces of foam.  A 1.5" for the case's lid(pictured), 2 - approx 4" Pick N Pluck foam and a 1" solid piece for the floor of the case.  All but the floor piece extends the full length of the case, because of the handle a assembly. Easy to configure.  Pelican's web site has some great ideas too.

**Q: Does fedex charge extra if you ship ur stuff in a pelican case versus a box of the same dimensions and weight? Should you put a lock on it or wire-tie**
A: FED-EX charges are based on destination and weight

**Q: Is the handle on the side quite small like in in first ànd third photo, or large as in the second and fourth one ?**
A: Bernd, the 1650 case that we own has a small handle like shown in the first & third photos.  Hope this helps?

**Q: Can I use this as a check bag for airlines?**
A: You can use it as a checked bag. Some airlines limit bag weight at 100lbs so keep that in mind when packing.

This thing is nice along with the inside lid mount panel I purchased I'm sure this thing will provide me with a long life of service. Quality material, nice design it's a Pelican so it's good to go.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I beat the hell out of my cases...

My cases take a beating so my photography gear doesn't have to. I recently bought some astrophotography gear and needed a new case to accomodate it and the rest of my lenses and photo gear. The first thing I will say is that it is BIG. I took it out west and it only left the car 2-3 times because it is heavy. It does have rollers, so that is nice, but lifting it around will make you work. I am in pretty good shape but this is about 100lbs loaded up, 35 of which is just the case. This fit my tripod in it as well, with the head off. I have a gitzo 2531ex which just fits lenghtwise in the case. Get this if you want a safe and strong(have already dropped it and banged it against walls a few times) case for home and vehicle storage and possibly air travel, if willing to pay the overweight fee. I would not use this as a field case, as it is too bulky/heavy to get anywhere far. I have a backpack to take the lenses and accessories I need for that use. All in all I love pelican cases, and have worked my way up the case sizes as my gear has grown. I cannot say enough about them, and you will not be disappointed. Also, get the lid organizer if you have lots of little stuff like cables, cards, filters, batteries, intervalometer like me. It really helps keep the case from being cluttered.
