Streamlight 88083 ProTac 2L-X USB Tactical Flashlight, Black

They don’t make them any better, in fact I do not buy anything else. I was issued a rechargeable Streamlight along with the vehicle it went in. After 15 years of “patrol” duties with the State Police(I had a longer career) not once, not one malfunction ever occurred. Mounted on the floorboard into the charging receptacle, its was always fully charged when I needed it. It maintained its full function and its known attributes for its brightness and durability. Extreme heat, cold, heavy rain or ice, snow and sleet with never a malfunction. I wanted to keep it upon retirement, but that was never considered by the Command. The light was called upon for more than illumination. It made the difference without damage or malfunction every time it was called upon for duties other than illumination. You could never go wrong with any Streamlight. Top of the line.

I've had this flashlight with the rechargeable USB Streamlight battery since August 2019 (3/1/23 Now) I've had it on my person every single day for the past 3 and a half years and use it very often/multiple times a day, every day. Finally last week when I turned it on, it would immediately go dim and die in 1 second. I charged the battery, it showed green (fully charged) and did the same thing. After buying a new Streamlight SL-B26 Rechargeable USB Battery, the flashlight worked perfectly again. (Yes this is the same battery and will fit) As you can see my flashlight has been through hell and back and is still as durable, reliable, and bright as the first day I got it. I love this little baby! 😁 The clip has stayed on and strong, maybe pinched it closed tighter with pliers for a tighter fit once or twice, so that days alot about its strength and durability. (Dual direction clip BTW/Hangs bezel down or up/As well as clipping on your hat brim or shoulder) the cap still holds a great seal (Also has a small hole in the top cap that you can attatch string or some other way to connect it to your body or wherever for extra security. Ive done this before using fishing line to prevent the flashlight from getting snagged completely off my body and getting lost, especially if its loud and dark, you wouldnt even know you dropped it until you need it most) and the glass/plastic window the light shines through has stayed intact without any scratches or breaking at all thanks to its durability and the bezel. This flashlight is a workhorse and shines SO bright, plus you get the 3 functions. This is my go to and it's part of my EDC (Everyday Carry). I don't go anywhere without it. If you are a firearm carrier, a flashlight is a must have. If you don't carry, it's a must have. This flashlight has saved my life and wellbeing so many times plus the times I didn't even realize it's saved my butt, I couldn't even imagine the number of times this flashlight has had my back. Amazing quality and an amazing price. P.S. Rechargeable USB battery is the way to go, just stick with Streamlight brand so you KNOW you have the best operating system. A flashlight will save your life, literally, and all the way to "Oh darn I dropped something lemme get my light out, to camping, to power outage, the possibilities are endless, and this is the flashlight I trust my life with. ❤️ Well done and thank you Streamlight.

In 2020, I bought 3 with the rechargeable 18650. First purchase, i was testing it out. I was so impressed with the first one, i bought two more lights with the 18650 about 2-3 weeks later. One light i gave as a gift, one i keep in my commute backpack, and one i keep on my person EDC. I run one 18650 in the light, one 18650 in my pocket in a silicone sleeve to protect the contacts, and two more 18650 charged up and waiting. I travel a lot for work and have to perform inspections regardless of day/night and weather. I’m often in and out of commercial and industrial structures/locations. Five features i had to have: battery charging outside the flashlight, additional batteries, the least number of penetrations where dust and water can ingress, robust and reliable exterior, and "bright enough." I really like it’s size and weight - it hits the Goldie Locks zone for me. I’m very happy with the battery life. The belt clip also fits the bill of a baseball cap, which is is easy to use and surprisingly helpful when needed. I’ve tried other lights, and they always have some kind of quirk that they think is a feature, but I can’t stand it. I’m very happy with everything this light offers. Things I’d like to change/improve: 1) I understand this is meant as a tactical light, but I’d love a Moonlight brightness setting because Low is sometimes too bright. Reading documents and key searches do not always require bright lights. I carry a [different brand] pen light with brightness levels low enough for reading, and it’s a little brighter than Low. The overlap in brightness levels between the two lights is helpful. 2) I’d like a 3-flash notice when the battery has run down to its last 15-20 minutes. This is why i carry an extra 18650 in my pocket. I’ve also learned when to swap batteries for charging before the light dies and I’m literally left in the dark. 3) Remove the Strobe setting, or replace it with SOS. I’ve never liked Strobe on any flashlight. 4) I’d prefer High, Medium, Low, Moonlight, with a choice to cycle in either direction. 5) I’d love a soft/crushable slip-on cover that i can keep in my pocket that turns the light into a red light. I’d recommend this light for EDC, BOB, and maybe for work. I used to use a penlight exclusively, but I like the brightness of this light. If you’re undecided, I’d recommend buying it.

I really loved this light until it stopped working. It's really bright, has a solid build and is very versatile with the different modes. I always used the 18650 rechargeable batteries and battery life was great. But just today, a year and three months after getting it, it started having problems. I'm assuming it's the switch, which apparently is a somewhat common problem with Streamlights. If it gets shaken moderately or bumped while on, it will shut off. Turning it off and back on sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. While it's in this condition, no modes beyond low power on/off are available. If you wait a few seconds before turning it back on, it seems to work normally until it gets shaken or bumped again. And I'm not talking severe shaking or bumping. Just the kind of movement you'd use to roll a pair of dice. This light has been in my pocket since I bought it and has seen only very limited use. It's a tactical light intended primarily to be used with my firearm. I use other larger lights for the day to day utility tasks. Now I'm certainly no stranger to having flashlights fail on me, nor is anyone else who's used them extensively, especially those of us in public service that regularly depend on them. But Streamlight is the quality light you spend much more money on so you won't have those kinds of problems. I didn't expect it to last forever, but I certainly thought it would last at lot longer than a year with only limited use. I saw an officer in one review state the axiom that two lights are one and one light is none, and there's very good reasons why we say that. Carrying an extra light in uniform isn't a huge deal, but it's another story when you're plainclothes. I'll probably end up with two lights since there don't seem to be any better choices, but I'm highly disappointed in a product this expensive that only lasted this long. The only reason I didn't give it one star was because it was a fantastic light when it worked. EDIT 1/26/2020: It appears my problems may have been related to a bad battery. It's been working well for about a week now with a new battery. But since I can't see how a battery could affect switch functions or cause vibration issues, I'm only going to raise my rating to 3 stars for now. If it keeps working well for a few more weeks or so, I'll come back and adjust the rating accordingly. EDIT 1/14/2021: This edit is long overdue. The problem I experienced was related to the battery. As long as it stays charged, the light continues to function as if it was new. Changing my rating back to five stars.

I purchased one of the lights a while ago and fell in love with it. Unfortunately that light got misplaced so ordered this one, and an HL-X. What I fell in love with is that these lights are built like tanks and they just work, push the button, light comes out reliably. I have had many nebo lights which constantly needed to be recharged or spontaneously stopped working altogether and so far (knocking on wood) my streetlights haven't failed me. That being said, this one seems somewhat looser on the tolerances, the tube the batteries fit in to is slightly too large on this one which is allows the batteries to rattle a bit (the light doesn't flicker or anything so it's not a functional issue just a nuisance one). Given the extremely high price tag on streamlight products I would expect better quality control. Also I will note that these use CR123a batteries which are a bit on the pricy side (they do seem to give better run times than the AA & AAA batteries my other lights provided, so it balances out but it's still worth noting). Lastly, I want to point out on of the coolest features of these lights.... The button.... It's programmable so you can reconfigure how the light behaves whether you single press, double press, and triple press the power button. By default it's set to single press for full power, double press for strobe, and triple press for dim mode. I like changing it to bright, dim, strobe so that I don't blind myself with this thing when in the roof of someones house.

For about the past 5 years I have carried and used a Streamlight ProTac 1AA everyday but I wanted something with a little more light output. I have now daily carried this ProTac 2L-X USB light for the last 3 months. I have 2 cats and I use this flashlight to illuminate my way through the house every morning to check for cat surprises on the floor. (If you have cats, you know what I mean.) I also use this flashlight throughout almost every day just to help with visibility, I'm 67 years old. Using the ten tap programming, I eliminated the strobe function, leaving the Low & High brightness function but the stobe is easily re-activated if I find a need. I really like this model's ability to use the rechargable #18650 battery unit since I have multiple Streamlight tactical flashlights that use the same battery packs.

Perfect size for every day carry, work (I'm an airframe mechanic and this by far is better to use than those larger streamlights). Fits in the hands better. Easy to draw from a pocket. Fits in tight spots to light the work area. I've had this since 2022, using streamlight batteries. No failures. Dropped i don't know how many times on concrete hangar floors from various heights. Shows it's age, wear on the finish I'm not impressed with but in general a reliable, bright, idiot proof, bullet proof light. Worth the cost. Get 1 !

This is an excellent LED flashlight. sturdy, well built, attractive, and with a quality warranty. But do yourself a favor. Buy the ProTac 2L-X version (in "Easy Open Box" [because, for just a dollar more than the "Clamshell" version, you get the holster included]). Do NOT waste money on the "USB" version (it costs $19+ additional [more than $20 additional by the time you pay sales tax]). That's an almost 40% "up charge" for very little benefit. Here's why: The fancy 'USB" rechargeable battery does work, and may be very trick, but really? Don't you already have an 18650 charger or two that gives you more information when you charge a cell (like No. of mAH for the charge, charge time, initial and terminal voltages, ability to automatically run full discharge / charge cycles, etc.)? Even if you're not interested in those features, there are other reasons simply to supply your own 18650 Li Ion cell... The "Streamlight USB" 18650 is stated to be a 2600 mAH cell. For $5 @ IMRBatteries or your favorite online battery store (OK, a dollar more when not on sale) you can purchase, say, a high-quality Samsung "30Q" 3000 mAH button-top 18650. So you have at least 15% more capacity for way less than the $20 Streamlight cell. Plus you can then get a couple of spare Samsungs to keep on hand as fully-charged backups, or for your other 18650-powered devices - and still come out ahead. i'm a big believer in using the Li Ion 18650s instead of the CR123s (which are expensive [$1.50 - $3.00 each] and produce the rated 500 lumens ONLY at the very beginning of their in-service life: they then promptly begin a steady voltage decline, producing ever-lower levels of light output [Li Ion batteries maintain much flatter voltage levels until depleted]). Nevertheless, it is a good idea to keep a couple of CR123s on hand for emergency use in a situation where one may not be able to recharge the Li Ion cells. The Li CR123s also have a very long (10+ year) shelf life when stored under normal conditions. But note: the ProTac 2L-X version ships with two Streamlight LI CR123s, which would cost you still another ~$4.00 to have as backups. The "USB" version, OTOH, ships only with the USB-enabled 18650 - no CR123s. So buying the 2L-X version with included CR123s saves even more. Important final tip: Note that the overall length of the USB-rechargeable 18650 is ~ 2.75", while a "normal" button-top 18650 (like the Samsung, for example), is ~2.56" tall. That 0.19" (shorter) difference could potentially cause a 'contact problem' when using the normal / UNadorned-with-USB-charging-extension version of an 18650. (You'll know if that is the case because, even with the tail cap screwed down all the way, the light will refuse to turn on. ) To remedy this, either stretch the internal tailcap spring to re-establish reliable contact or (much preferred) simply snap one of those little 10mm x 3mm Neodymium "refrigerator magnets" onto the button / positive top of the "normal" 18650 - to increase its overall length. And Voila! All is good.

Ilimina bastante bien muy brillante, lo utilizo en fabrica lo que me gusto es que es una luz mas natural y no tan artificial como las luces azules o blancas, en cuanto a la bateria me da luz de uso continuo como por 3 horas maximo

Tiene una luz tan sumamente fuerte que deslumbra. Pero si quieres ver bien en la oscuridad, definitivamente es tu linterna.
