I dont use spong any more for scalp, but use it to cover grey hairs at my hairline. Gives even colour. Finger is fine for scalp as easy to put small dots. I tend to work the cream in direction of hair not round and round. It works best on every so slightly moist scalp. Think sweaty scalp moisture not towel dried hair. That is still bit too much water. I have to say once its on it doesnt rub off too easily from scalp. I found I wash hair, put on light covering on sunday, top up on monday for work.
