Works better than ever.....even more impressed now!
I just thought that i would update everyone on the Amazon Fire Tv Cube. I have had it awhile now and just recently started using it again after having it packed away. After testing and going through other tv devices, i am glad i went back to this one. I was really surprised. I don't know if the updates have anything to do with it, but the video quality and Dolby Vision was quite impressive, and just as good as those higher price tv streaming devices. I am also not using the wi-fi but it works great too, but i have it directly connected to ethernet and works just fine with my 4k streaming movies without any buffering or issues. I am glad i gave this device a second chance because now it is my main streaming device since it is way faster than my Smart tv streaming. That is the one feature i do like, this is fast when scrolling through the menu screens and the colors are quite impressive and stand out. So if you are reading my review and looking for a good streaming tv device with great video 4k Dolby Vision quality, then i would not look no further, i highly suggest this one. All of my apps that i like area also available with the Fire Cube. The other higher priced streaming devices did not. Very fast getting everything set up again too. I am just amazed again at how sharp and detailed the 4k and other apps come through. So needless to say, i will be staying with the Amazon Fire Cube from now on. Thanks for reading.

Worked but failed. Amanzon is replacing. Update.
It functioned wonderfully for all of two days then stopped working. It was a refurbished Fire TV Cube 3. Sadly it had to be returned. Amazon is kindly sending a new one. The service is excellent. It is much appreciated. Update. The new one has functioned very well. Once it was set up it has been great and easy enough my brain damaged combat vet husband is able to view all he desires, which gives me good time to attend to other chores. The ethernet port has made a world of difference. It has been, thus far, a good investment.

Had mine for a while. Bought a refurbished one to save some money and have been extremely happy. Games run smooth and adding 3rd party apps was easy. Highly recommend!

Hands free unusable, the rest is just as bad
First, I’m a software engineer and I am more than capable of managing technology. My review is not the result of not understanding how to follow instructions or how to use a device. I bought the Fire TV Cube specifically because it is advertised as hands-free. However, the hands-free is completely unusable, at least in any practical sense. The biggest problem is, every action has to be initiated by saying "Alexa" but the session lasts only long enough to issue a single command. It then immediately ends, and you have to wait a couple seconds before saying "Alexa" again for the next command. These brief voice sessions are also annoyingly laggy so you can never tell whether it didn't hear you and you need to say "Alexa" again, or it did hear you and you need to wait for the command to run. Using YouTube as an example, something that takes three seconds with a remote, takes several minutes using hands-free. Suppose you're in your "Watch Later" list and want to scroll down 4-5 videos. You have to say "Alexa" separately for every single movement, wait and repeatedly restart the interaction, for several minutes, just to play one video. Exhausting! Worse, the commands don't always work, or don't always work the same. Sometimes it doesn’t respond so you have to initiate another session but other times the response is delayed. You can't tell which is which. Maybe it didn't hear you in which case you need to say "Alexa" and the command again, or maybe it did hear you and is simply taking a long time in which case if you say "Alexa" again, you just made the situation worse. If you say "go down" sometimes it will scroll down one video but other times it will inexplicably jump down two videos so you get even more confused. Etc. The result is an endless exercise in frustration for even the simplest navigation and video selection. To make the device usable, the voice session needs to remain active while you navigate. You should be able to say "Alexa", move up/down/left/right as many times as it takes to get to the video you want and then select it and start playing that video without having to reactivate Alexa after every single step and wait/guess in between. As currently implemented, it's essentially useless. Not that using the physical remote is good either. The interface is unacceptably laggy and filled with constant prompts to subscribe, shop, etc. All of the menus and the entire home screen are deliberately designed to promote partner apps and subscriptions and to upsell Amazon's own stuff.

Great addition to our living room
This is a great addition to our home. We are always losing our remotes and this is remote free. It comes with a remote but you just don’t need it. It was very easy to set up and works great with our tv. It connected really fast and was a great addition to our living room
