## Description

2 x Vitamin D Level Insufficiency Deficiency Testing Kits (2 Tests) : desertcart.co.uk: Health & Personal Care

Review: Easy to use - As it's so difficult to get in for a blood test at our GP, we tend to purchase these in order to keep an eye on Vit D levels. Don't give you a percentage but they tell you what your range is, i.e whether you're deficient or okay. Not as cheap or accurate as doctors but next best thing.
Review: Very nicely presented - Well made, good value and easy to use but, as with all these types of at home kits, there is no way of knowing how accurate it really is. If I can persuade my GP to give me a test then I would have a reference point, but until then it's really just a rough guide I think.

## Features

- WHAT IT TESTS: This test checks the level of 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25 (OH) D) in your blood. It helps assess your Vitamin D status, which is vital for various aspects of your health
- EASY SELF-TESTING: You can easily perform this test at home. It's designed for self-testing and gives you a preliminary result without needing a visit to the lab
- VITAMIN D IMPORTANCE: Vitamin D is essential for your body as it helps with the absorption of calcium, iron, magnesium, and more. It's necessary for bone health, immune function, and overall well-being
- HEALTH IMPLICATIONS: A deficiency in Vitamin D can lead to various health issues such as osteoporosis, cardiovascular diseases, and even depression. Knowing your Vitamin D status can help you take steps to maintain good health
- HOW IT WORKS: The test uses a simple principle of competitive binding. The result is indicated by the test line's darkness. The included colour card helps you interpret the result, and a control line ensures the test was done correctly

## Questions & Answers

**Q: can this test kit be reused more than once?**
A: No you can’t and it didn’t work for me. It said I was in normal range but after the doctors blood test I was extremely deficient. In my opinion a waste of money!

**Q: what exactly are these tests testing ? -it should be testing total vit d ( d2 and d3 )which I doubt very much these quick tests can possibly do**
A: It tests whether you're Deficient	<10ng/mL
Insufficient 10-30ng/mL and Sufficient, >30-100ng/mL. (< means less than or equal to) (> means greater than or equal to)

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Easy to use

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very nicely presented

### ⭐ Book a blood test with your GP...
*by M***N on 27 September 2020*

I bought this kit over a month ago when I was experiencing very bad hair loss and had experienced cardiac problems, which can all be as a results of low vitamin D. I had been booked into my GP urgently, after waking up with symptoms of a possible oncoming heart attack. Having been tested for the more obvious imbalances including full blood count/iron levels, having an ECG and hospital referral and being told everything was OK, that my iron levels were "borderline" but I wasn't anaemic, I thought there was something that wasn't right. I googled online (as I was severely anaemic 4 years ago and had never experienced the extreme chest pains and other symptoms then) and discovered that Vitamin D can cause cardiac events and hair loss too, so I started taking Vitamin D, and ordered 2 of these tests. I used one and I found it very difficult to read the results due to the pink tones on the test result barely differing. From the results, it looked as though I was not deficient in Vitamin D. Fast forward to this week just gone. I decided, after a little while to ask my GP if I could be tested for Vitamin D, as I was losing my hair a lot still but not as severely as before I started taking Vitamin D tablets, and thought it best to get it officially tested. My vitamin D levels came back extremely low. While these tests can feel like a comfort to have to hand, this demonstrates the results weren't reliable. If in doubt, always go to your GP and ask for a blood test. It can be dangerous to rely on a home test. There is also very recent research indicating that low vitamin D levels can lead to anaemia too, so if your ferritin/iron levels are lower than they should be and you can't logically understand why (if diet has been consistent) then there is a possibility your Vitamin D levels may be low. I personaly now would not rely on these tests. It may just be that the test I used didn't perform as well as other peoples though. There is always that possibility.
