All for a reason to create the perfect foundation of the story. Every detail is planned out and important to understand all the nuances of alien races and skill. An attack on the Alcazar station hits hard with many casualties and destruction but Lance’s squad survives it, with heavy hearts and a desire to help the community’s restoration. Intel comes in with news of a former trainee, Irene, at the forefront of the terror. Lance’s anticipated promotion comes with a new command and ship. Lance and his squad want to go after Irene but orders send them instead after another enemy, the Reeves, who can provide important intel. Buzzell sets the stage for many fights as well as surprises to keep the story flowing. Not to mention, the biggest surprise of all, a foe unlike any other. The reader is invested in every moment; emotionally and with anticipation. And, sometimes, when you least expect it, you have an unlikely source on your side. The characters will get under your skin and you won't be able to set the book down for things like eating and sleeping. I read most of the book before I realized that he was not using profanity. Suitable storyline for young adults of all ages.
