Easy and simple enough to use. Handle is comfortable. Reads instantly. Large numbers make it easy to read in the dark. We have a forehead thermometer but ear thermometer is still generally more accurate. Worked well when our kids had the flu and running with high fever. Our forehead scanner gave wide ranges of temperature readings and made it difficult sometimes to track progress, so accuracy was very important to us in monitoring them. This scanner is not the latest model but still worked great and cheaper.

Costs more, but really seems to give the most accurate, reliable temperatures. Our older ear thermometers (mostly Braun also), were pretty good, but always were lower than our true temperature, so we had to sort of guess what our real temperature was (we are not all 97.2 - 97.6 when we are healthy). The forehead thermometers are slightly easier and quicker, but the least accurate (my impression--but also supported by recent study on hospitalized patients).

BUYER BEWARE - Hands down this is the most horrible thermometer I’ve ever encountered. Save your money bec you’ll just have to buy another one after this one. Surprisingly this comes from Braun, which usu is a trusted name, but I’ll never buy their products again bec of this product. It does not work reliably. I press once and I get an Errr message. I wait and wait (while my kids temperature is soaring to hospital levels) and press again and another error. Repeat again and again, turn off, short press on the button, long press - nothing has any rhyme or reason. And it constantly keeps getting stuck in Celsius until I can look up instructions for how to get back to Fahrenheit. Finally get it to work and get one ear done then it’s back to Errr message. OMG. Absolutely the worst, most obnoxious thermometer - for something so simple and important!!

Needed to replace my old Braun thermometer which lasted over 30 years so went with the same brand since it's held up so well. This one is very lightweight. I like that it lights up when you take the temperature giving you your temp and a color code so you see right away if it's normal a little high or you're running a fever with green yellow and red as colors. Very happy with the products from Braun. Came with a package of disposable ear cover so you can change them out when needed. You have everything you need to take your temperature. I hope to have this one as long as I did the last. The only difference was mine folded and held the covers inside of casing where this one does not. They are very accurate. It beeps twice to let you know once you've turned it on that it has taking temperature. Very happy with product.

For some reason I would get wild swings of several degrees from checking the same ear even just 30 seconds apart.
