For those of you that are "confused" and expect a white powder you are unbelievably uneducated, UPCO bone meal is not BLEACHED like the other more expensive white powders. I give my cats cooked dark meat chicken with a probiotic, mineral powder, and this bone meal. I add hot water to the cold stored cooked chicken and minerals so it all dissolves together. I have had a difficult time with other brands of bone meal getting it to dissolve in hot water(especially NOW foods brand). It does smell weird but what do you expect steamed ground pork bones to smell like? ? Roses or something?? Anyways if you aren't a fool don't pay 2x as much for a name brand. This stuff is legit. Remember bones have marrow and stuff that ISN'T white so it should be kind of brown once it's all said and done. I read all reviews and some mentioned a strong not pleasant aroma, but in my experience the smell is minimal. I prepare a raw diet for my cats, so I am not cooking anything and this may why the smell is almost zero... for humans not for cats, one of my cats smelled the bag the day I got it and she started biting the bag wanted to eat what was inside... at that moment I knew this bone meal was a success for my cats perspective.
