Less strain on you when you're trying to reach across to pull a patient towards you, easier for a helper to hold a patient on their side while wedges or pillows are placed, and way more comfortable and secure feeling for the patient because it's so long and supportive. The handles are sturdy and well spaced (I wish there were handles at the top and bottom, and maybe 2 pair of longer handles so the pad could also be used on a hoyer, but I'm not complaining!), the pad is thick and the fabric on both sides is soft and very nice quality - and the pad doesn't slip on sheets as much as the chucks we've used. We do use chucks on top of it to keep it clean for longer, so they haven't really been exposed to copious amounts of liquid - not sure of how water resistant they are or how well they'll do in the wash. During a recent trip for a procedure, we used the pad as a transfer sheet. Do not hesitate to buy these! *by M***. on February 18, 2026* This is an excellent product! I already had regular bed pads in this brand, which is the best I have found so far. I bought them in 2024 and 2025, they are in constant use and are still in mint condition. They are thick and highly absorbent, so they protect the mattress and don't leave my son feeling wet all night if we don't wake up. He is a large man, and we sometimes have to lift and move him, so when I saw the pads with the handles and read they could be used for very heavy people, I had to try one! We have been using it for a few months and it does work. It takes several people to lift my son, but when we held the handles, we were able to lift him and carry him over a short distance, and the pad felt very secure. He is about 6'2" and 230 lbs, so I am impressed. The pad is large enough to cover the area of the bed that risks getting wet and, although it is shorter than my son, it is long and wide enough to be used to lift and carry him. I am getting a prompt here to discuss colour and smell. The colour is bright, I can see it through a thin bottom sheet, but not through both sheets. It is very important to follow the instructions and put the green side up, because it is the absorbant side. As for the smell, well, if they are wet once, I wash them in the washing machine. The smell comes out easily and does not linger on the pads. I have had the pads without handles (which are the same... without the handles) for years now and they do not smell.
