I recently cut my 2c coarse frizzy hair eleven inches. My hair now comes up to my shoulders and looks like a triangle bob when curly. Stupid me thought I could iron it every day. Dumb idea. After a month of ironing/blowdrying my hair every other day (with heat protector), my hair lost ALL its shine and barely holds a straightening. I didn't want to spend $300 on a permanent salon straightening, so I looked into many different options. It came down to an at-home keratin straightening with a full kit or this. I decided to try this, as it didn't seem nearly as harsh as the other one; I was scared an at-home permanent straightening could make my hair fall out. This seemed pretty idiot-proof :) ~EXPECTATIONS: Most of the reviews seemed to suggest that this was the miracle in a bottle I was looking for, but I was a little skeptical. It was only sold on Amazon and the Chi website, and I couldn't find reviews anywhere other than Amazon, which was both a little odd to me. No Youtube reviews or beauty blog posts on this product. I expected: 1) Softer silkier hair - due to the keratin 2) Straightening with flat irons and blowdrys that last longer 3) Heavier hair - also due to the keratin :) Keratin builds up on hair and can weigh it down, so I did buy a clarifying shampoo to go with it. ~HOW IT WORKED FOR ME: Holy cow! This was AMAZING. It did everything I expected, and more. I put it in freshly washed, mostly dry hair, even though instructions say to use it on damp hair. I also used a LOT, putting on each section of hair as I blew it, and my hair didn't feel heavy at all. As soon as I blew it, I noticed a massive difference. Firstly, it was baby soft! It was like different hair. Second, it made blowing my hair ten times quicker, and my hair didn't get as puffy as it normally did. I didn't even need to iron it, but I did, mainly because I wanted it to last at least 3 days (to minimize heat use). The only 'bad' thing about this is that it smells a little like soap, but its very faint. To people wondering if this protects hair from heat, it doesn't. It's a treatment, not a heat protectant - I used a heat spray after blowing/before ironing. This works great in humidity, terrible in rain (duh). The longest I've gone without washing it out was 5 days, and I only needed to touch up the ends once, but beware of oily hair *-* I use this now twice a week, and it works amazing. If your hair starts to feel greasy after a few uses, it's normal! Keratin is a great protein for hair, but too much can weigh down hair, especially fine hair, so make sure to incorporate a clarifying shampoo into your routine. ~PRODUCTS I USE: Shampoo - giovanni tea tree triple treat shampoo (clarifies and removes buildup) // Conditioner - aussie miracles moist 3 minute deep conditioner // Heat Protector - tresemme heat tamer spray // Leave-in Conditioner - garnier fructis curl air dry cream

I am so impressed with the CHI Keratin K-Trix 5. After just one use, my hair felt incredibly smooth, soft, and much easier to manage. It really helps to lock in moisture and reduce frizz, leaving my hair looking shiny and healthy all day. I love that it protects my hair from heat styling too, which makes a huge difference in keeping it strong and damage-free. This product is definitely a must-have for anyone who wants salon-like results at home. Highly recommend!

This works really well, I will buy it again. It must be heat activated so good for blow drying and flat ironing

I didnt have a lot of faith in this because I have tried so many products and salon treatments but they always left me wanting for more. So when i tried this, i actually did it right before sleep, like an after thought. I was immediately pleasantly surprised by its scent. It smelled rich and sweet. I got a kittle worried as i was blow drying. It didnt seem to have any difference from how it feels blowdrying with my other products. Per product instruction, it is activated by flat irons. And immediately as I started ironing, my hair softened. It straightened quick with just 1 glide. My hair is thin so it didnt take long. It was shiny and flowy and my fingers went through it like cutting butter. But It was late and i had to sleep. I thought it was going to go back to being stringy and dry by the next day (coz thats how my hair usually is after sleep). It is the next day AND it feels and looks soft and shiny still. I am so impressed. I will buy again for sure. Ill update this review after 5 days to see if thats as long as it lasts (as it says on the bottle).

Fantastic product, great for bleached/dyed hair and works well in conjunction with their keratin serum! Shiny, beautiful hair, brings out natural wave and curl. Very impressed with the results, and I have never found a better hair treatment product!

This treatment works well. It smooths without weighing down my fine hair. The scent, however, is overwhelming. It’s not that it’s bad, it’s just really strong. It’s so bad that it gave me the worst headache. I used it at night and I couldn’t sleep because of the pain, and pain relievers did nothing for it. I ended up washing it out just to get some relief. I’ll gladly go back to the stuff I was using before. It’s twice the price, but no smell.

Chi is a great hair treatment. It smoothes out the frizzies so my hair looks great.

I love this product. Second purchase! I put it in my wet hair after a shower and let my hair dry naturally. It really tames my curly hair and feels nice and soft.
