## Questions & Answers

**Q: Will this work with a looper going into the amp FX loop?**
A: It should. It isolates the input from the outlet so it should eliminate a hum from the ground loop. Try to isolate the problem to a specific effect/cable before deciding where to add this to your mix

**Q: Can a 1/4 inch input and XLR output on the same channel?**
A: Yes. I have done this.
It works fine using the 1/4" input and XLR output of each channel. OR 1/4" IN to 1/4" OUT.

The pair of internal isolation transformers appear to work just fine in reverse too because it's just a passive device with no active electronics.
I tested this and it quiets a hum connecting it either way. By coming IN the jack labeled as output, or coming out the 1/4" input.

It all worked.
It's not really IN and OUT exactly since it's in parallel.
It just has convenient labels to the average person hooks it up right.

Looking at the internal circuit it's just parallel XLR/ 1/4" jacks passed through a decent pair of quality audio transformers with a couple caps and resistors.
All combinations of connections I tried work fine.

Naturally you can't connect 2 devices to 1 channel of the output at the same time as that would lower the levels.
So, use both channels.

I measured no insertion loss by running through it. It's less than 1dB if any.
It's a bit spendy for how simple it is, but it's well made.

**Q: I have a long 1/4” stereo cable run from one mixer aux out to another’s aux in. can i run this in between? are the 1/4 ins stereo too?**
A: The 1/4" jacks are not each stereo.
But, there ARE 2 channels. So, yes, it's intended to handle normal 2 channel stereo audio by using both channels.
Each channel has it's own audio isolation transformer that does eliminate any ground loop current and noise completely.

If the equipment and all connected gear and cabling is already silent with no hum then this will make no difference.
If you have noise from faulty gear (old buzzing/humming tube amps) they may still hum.
If you have gear and amps that hum when connected to other gear this really helps most of the time.

Don't try adding it between a passive, low level mic and an amp. That has no purpose and only adds noise.

It's meant to go between grounded gear such as your mixer Aux to other gear a you asked about.
IF you have hum from doing that, yes, very likely this will help a lot.

This is a better solution than the ground lift products including Ebtech's own HumX device that lifts the ground, runs a resister to make it look like it's still grounded and has a pair of diodes to clamp ground voltages to below 0.6V. The Ebtech HE-2 XLR has real audio isolation transformers that cut the hum and your equipment ground is still properly grounded.

**Q: Will this work for running one guitar through two amps**
A: If your question relates to the (2) outputs on this Ebtech, NO; the 1st (of 2) inputs will not drive BOTH outputs, hence drive two amps. However, you can use a Y-Adaptor (either on the Input side [1/4" Mono TS Female to 2 X 1/4" Male Mono TS Y Splitter Cable] OR the Output side [Hosa YPP-111 1/4" TS to Dual 1/4" TSF Y Cable] ) and isolate the hum-reduction to each amp, depending on whether you use the Y-Adaptor on the input side (or not). Hope that clarifies.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ worked perfectly
*by S***2 on 25 April 2021*

I had an annoying low level hum and fast ticking sound in my home cinema.I isolated the issue to hdmi cables.I installed the hum buster between my pre-amp and av processor and it solved both issues.Expensive, but it worked.Postage was expensive at £19 from Germany to the UK though.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ hum digger

pushed hum out of the picture good
