How long is the cable?

The cable is 1.5 meter long (59 inches), thanks.

Cheap, and hence not hot-swappable, right?

indeed, this keyboard is not hot-swappable.

Can I use a usb to connect?

yes, the keyboard comes with a usb-c to usb-a cord. this means that the usb-c end plugs into the keyboard, and the usb-a end plugs into a usb port on a computer, laptop, etc. you don't have to use the cord that comes with the keyboard. hope this helps!
