Does it work on your hand ?

It requires temperature difference of about hot water (~200F) vs room (~70F) so ~130F either way to run great. Assuming your hand is 98F and you are in Minnesota in February (-30F) then it will work just fine ;)

How do you lubricate it with graphite?

Look for lock/key lubricant. It is sold at DIY, Hardware, and Stirling engine stores.
