Great value in a portrait lens for ASP-C
Just slightly soft at the edges when wide open (which may be just the ticket for a portrait). Sharpens up fully by f4. Just a great little lens if you don't mind doing your own focusing. Also, a nit I have to pick is the aperture ring is clickless, no click stops. Other than that I don't see a bit of weakness in this lens. Sure beats spending many hundreds for a portrait lens from the OEM, especially if you don't make your living as a portrait photographer. It also works great with my macro extension tubes. A great buy!

Sweet little lens.
I tried a couple of other manual Chinese lenses for my XPro2 to use just for walk around fun. This one was the definite winner over the others. Good solid build quality and features punching above its weight for its price point. The focus ring is smooth as silk and damped perfectly for me. The aperture ring is tighter than others I tried, but that’s a good thing as it’s clickless. The only reason I didn’t give this 5 stars was the clickless aperture ring. Though that feature seems to be all the rage withe the current crop of aftermarket lenses. For those who care, the bokeh is very nice also. It’s also razor sharp by f/2. Even wide open, if you nail focus it’s more than acceptably sharp. All in all a nice little walk around manual lens.

Thoughtful packing. Amazing little lens
First of all, a very thoughtful packing. You get the lens, two bags for holding the lens (one is a thin fabric, other is a cushioned one). With a pair of microfiber gloves. The lens feels solid built. I am not going to complain about the lack of sharpness around the edge as this is not what I purchased this lens for. This is supposed to be my portrait lens and that is how I am judging it. The focus ring is smooth. Do not forget to turn on the setting to shoot without a lens as the lens does not transfer data to the camera. I opted for this as I could not afford the 56mm f1.2 from Fuji yet. I do not have anything to complain about it yet. But, if I find something, I will update this review accordingly.

It is Ok; but just Not for Me
I really wanted/needed to like to lens, so I could use it for my portraits... but at the end I'm letting it go. It is well built and all, but... Cons - Chromatic Aberration - Ghosting - Bokeh Balls tend to be soft and Cat-eye look towards the corners. - Some Cyan tint - Soft Pros -Price -You can get really nice pictures with it. It all depends on your budget; I prefer to wait for a Fujinon's. Meantime, there is a better option : TTArtisans.

Blown away, amazing value !
I shot an entire concert with only this 7artisans 55mm f/1.4 manual focus lens on my Fujifilm X-T3, and it’s incredible. The image, color reproduction, sharpness, with a little of that manual, old school magic thrown in. It’s built like a tank, it has those sexy classic looks, for the price it’s impossible to beat this lens. I will let my sample images speak for themselves…Hairball, Iowa State Fair 2022.

For the money, this is an amazing lens
Pretext: I'm new to photography with interchangeable lenses. I have an X-T30, with a kit XC15-45mm lens. I ordered this lens (the 7artisans 55mm 1.4f) and a meike 35mm 1.7f at the same time. This is the best lens of the bunch. The background blur (Bokeh) is nice, the light 'balls; aren't perfect spheres but it's good. The lens is just right for me. I like a tighter field of view apparently. It focuses nicely. One of my friends warned me about cheap lenses, saying they lose finer control over time and to look into a eyeglass repair kit (couple bucks at a grocery/convenience store) to tighten any screws that might go loose.

Amazing lens!
Beautiful piece of glass. Can’t imagine I would own a lens of this caliber for the price. A German made lens would cost a fortune and this is of the same quality. Apparently the Sonnar design is very cost effective to manufacture. With my XT2 I’m living the dream of fast, sharp and compact lenses. Thanks 7 Artisians for producing great lenses at an affordable price.

Fantastic portrait lense
This lense can produce stunning images when used appropriately. At this price point there are a few commise but I have produced beautiful portaits with it. The lense get very sharp in the center starting at f1.8 but is still usable wide open. The bokeh produced by this lense is absolutely fantastic and a big reason why I love this lense. Chromatic aberration are I would say "moderate" in high contrast area but I rarely use it in these conditions.

£100, for F/1.4
5 Stars, is reflecting the price. I got the Fujifilm X mount version and a HOYO pro protection filter. Image reduced to 900px longest side Focus peaking on the Fuji makes the manual focus not difficult, however at F/1.4 the Depth of field is razor thin so landing perfect focus every time is very hard (Stop it down, increase DOF makes it easier). The subject isolation is very good, I like the click-less aperture, i find the focus smooth. Is the lens perfect, certainly not... but it is a £100 lens. if Money was no object I'm sure I'd have got the fujinon XF 56 F/1.2 but at £800 that is a large price difference. I shoot most of my professional work using the Fujinon XF 35 F/1.4 but i have used the 7Artisans 55mm F/1.4 for professional work and would be happy to use it again.

7 Artisans 55mm F1.4 II V2.0 Lens (Fuji)
This is a unique lens and I really love the look it produces. For the price I think its a great intro to using manual focus lenses. Lovely soft bokeh and I like the colours too.
